A couple of questions about carb issues on a 1988 GSXR1100.

1.What effect would a 5mm split in 2 of the slide diaphragms have on the performance?

2. What effect would one blocked pilot jet have?

Cheers all.

Quick answer is it would run like shit. The split diaphragms make slide lift uneven - shows up well on gauges when synchronising carbs. Blocked pilot means you'd get one chiming in later than the others.
Pretty sure diaphragms are available from a guy in the UK who specialises in carb rubber bits.

The major issue is idling. It will idle on choke. It will idle at about 2.5-3k rpm if I wind the idle nob in far enough. If I wind the idle nob back out to lower the rpm it will hold slow idle for a few seconds then die. Otherwise the thing runs like a scorched cat.

Parts are not an issue here.

At idle you get an air leak through the diaphragms, Once the throttle is cracked, not so noticeable.

Can anyone tell me what the tubes (2 of them marked with red ink from carbs 2 and 3) do?
The seam to simply vent to the atmosphere. When I blow through the fuel supply line air comes out of them. When I pulled the carbs out there was no tubes connected to them. There is no mention of them in my workshop manual.
Cheers all.

Anyone know the factory setting for the pilot screw?

Does nobody reduce pics on here ?

those are just float chamber breathers afaik.
pilot adjuster 2.0 turns

But that's UK market info used with 42.5 pilots and 4D13 needles.
