Keep an eye on the results at-least... interesting experiment, but on the flip side I'm not sure I'd want more of the "what's a gear stick" drivers pushed to biking

Why not? Let Darwin have his due.
I agree that initially there would be an increase in the accident rate but once things settle down the quality of the average driver would increase.

You could be right, but I think more realistically what we'd see is an increase in blanket bubble-wrapping legislation from the imbeciles in the beehive & increased attention on our lifestyles

Unlike their attitude to the speed limit, I got the impression that the ptb in Melbourne had a relaxed attitude to motorcycle parking. One sees a lot of bikes parked on the footpath parallel with and adjacent to the kerb. This plan might not work everywhere here as if I recall correctly the melbourne inner city footpaths are wider than most here.
You'd be wasting your time, bit above their station anyway.... Better to go straight to your local council.

NZ only adopts Australian policies that don't work. We normally take on something as they are reversing the changes. You may need to wait and see if it fails first then we could have a go at it.
