View Full Version : Some fucker stole my workmate's scooter. Suzuki UZ50K8

it has been recovered which is the good news - about 200 metres away.

The bad news is that the dickhead(s) who stole it have broken the front plastic cowl to get to the wiring inside.

they have then cut and pulled wires randomly trying to get the poor wee thing to go.

It looks to me like the thing *should* go if I can find the appropriate connectors to reconnect what looks to me like the reg/rec, and the appropriate wires to the ignition.

What I am looking for is either a workshop manual, OR a wiring diagram, and a headsup on where to buy those connectors (though if it comes to it, Eastern Beaver or whoever would likely do.). I can possibly rig something if I need to.

It also needs a replacement front cowl thing, in white. If you know anyone wrecking one.

So, I have a wiring diagram and have worked out what wires go to the reg/rec and the ignition. Thought I might have some plugs that would fit it but the one I do have is slightly different. Jaycar apparently stock them but we shall see.

Fucking muppets fucking cutting the fucking plugs off because they didnt know what the fuck they were doing fucking pissing me right off. If I had the two plugs I would have had it running by now. Grrrrr.

Oh yeah. Of the four pins on the reg rec, does it matter which way round I connect the four wires?

Assuming it is a 3 phase alt (3 wires the same colour, 1 different) yes it does, one will be the dc out. Might help if you post the wiring diagram

If it was me id be tempted to forget the connectors and solder the wires on to the pins

The reg/rec - at least I am assuming that is what it is: the green socket with four male pins sticking out top left next to the ignition switch has four wires going to it: White/red, Red, Black/White, Yellow/White. but not which is connected to which pin.

The other four wires seem to be for the ignition switch: Red, orange/black, orange/yellow and the diagram says Brown but I have another colour.

The big issue would be if we had the plugs with the cut wires, or a photo of one with the wires intact - at that point it becomes very straightforward.

If I can't get that info I will admit defeat and the Suzuki shop can sort it out.

Sadly that doesn't help a great deal, might have to be off to the suzuki shop

To make it run it looks like joining the red and orange/ wires together is all that's required, easy enough to work out which is connected and which isn't on the ignitions switch, something is connected to the battery in the lock position on the other coloured wire I don't read japanese so no idea what.

The rec/reg looks to be a single phase(ish) unit, b/w is ground, red is battery. looks like y/w is one alternator output for the lights probably with just an overvoltage clamp, w/r is other alternator output regulated for battery charging. Probably possible to work out which pin is which with a multimeter and a bit of time.
