It's official; Aussies like Kiwi's, according to an article in the NZ Herald online. And so they should!
Sheep jokes? Nah, it seems they love us, really

So much for the sheep jokes.

New research shows that despite traditional transtasman rivalry, Australians like New Zealanders more than any other nationality.

Dont believe it! They are just lulling us into a false sense of security and camaraderie!

As you know mate - apart from the pronunciation of 2 vowels and the code of football - day to day there is fuck-all difference between here and there.
Same shops same media same attitudes etc etc etc.

(You just have to ignore race relations and foreign policy - in which NZ is miles ahead)

That's right. This is like N.Z's fourth island!

Or behind depending on your point of view.

Personally I'd absolutely fucking LOVE to see us import aussies stance on immigration. Put all the illegals behind barbed wire camps!

Ahead. I for one am glad that we didn't round Maori up and herd them into the sea they way Aborigines were dealt to in Tasmania. I also prefer to be outward looking in foreign policy, rather than a fortress mentality that relies on the utter annihilation of our "enemies" as a detterent to treating with others as if they are equal.

I like to think that the treatment of the Aborigines happened 'before they stopped being Europeans on holiday and became Australians' as Douglas Adams puts it. It's easier to live with, even if factually spurious.

What freaks me is thet Aus has just committed 4 billion to overseas aid and we have aboriginal communities living in 4th world conditions still. Some of them do it by choice (living off the land and the dreamtime etc) but $4 billion!

I admire Kiwi independance and not bowing to Johhny, Dubyah and Tone.

At least the Abbo's can live the old way if they like, the Maori couldn't live a 19th century lifestyle if they wanted to,which 100% wouldn't...they wouldn't be allowd to.
