View Full Version : WHAT THE.....

I recently had a GSXR1000K5 out for a test ride, in a bloody thunder storm - go figure. Anyways I holed up to wait out the worst of the deluge at a BP station in west Auckland. While resisting the urge for a smoke (one of my brighter ideas), i bided my time sitting on my arse against the bike looking wet and hoping the seams on my jacket and pants held.
Round about this time I noticed the first one, a very pretty lady driver who was more then keen to give me a HUGE smile as she went in to pay for her petrol, well that was nice. Then another lovely all smiles and cheery eyes (i did mention it was absolutely pissing down). Then another one asking me if i could help get her petrol cap off (it took all my self restraint not to come over all carry on, at that one). Then another and then another.
What the .......
Now its either me (unlikely), the bike (hmmm maybe), that westie girls like bikers ('supose) or a n other.
All I can say is, I'll take that sort of attention where ever I can get it, (crap hope its not the bike or i'll have to mug the bank manager) as it made the ride home alot easier for some reason.

Sweet, its a westie chick thing - god bless them. Would love to trade up (my bike that is), the litre engine really appeals, but I found the bike a little cramped, and my arrse had gone numb after about 100ks, this may well have been because I was desperately aware I was flinging a 22,000 grand bike along the road at legal speeds (ahem) and it wasn't mine. I love my 600, but it sure felt revy afterwards. Must repeat this with my bike and see if i get as much attention.

bollocks. shut yer pie hole.

your just an insecure wee laddie who likes them for the image.

cruisers are uncomfortable and underpowered.

not that Im advocating sportbikes as the sole choice, I dont like sore wrists in traffic any more than the next girl, but face it, a big naked type, say a ZRX1200, kicks the pants right off any cruiser whatsoever in any comfort, power and handling contest.

[edit: honorable exception mention goes to the V-Rod but at that price youd bloody well hope so, wouldnt you]

I must agree with you on this one. Although certain cruisers are much more comfortable than a sportsbike.

Are you shitting me fish? Cruisers not comfortable? When was the last time you've slept on a sportsbike? Used to do it all the time back in the states. Just pitch the tarp over the bike like a tent and sleep on it all night. Never had to pay for a hotel when traveling across the country, and much more comfortable than any hotel bed I've ever been in.

And Keystone, give it time you will be converted. lol.

Good story, but it's obvious that they felt sorry for you standing there looking all damp and miserable.:cold: The K5 would have been a delightful backdrop however!

well I dunno about sleeping on em, but cruisers sure as hell give me a sore lower back to ride. maybe in 20 years time when your heavier and creakier you wont be so enthusiastic about them.

fortunately theres a decent community of non-wanky non-cruiser-riders here in nz so you have the comfort of acceptance by a peer group should you decide to break free of chrome tractor bondage.

also, without a cruiser, youd be less likely to wrap yourself around a tree trying to gain acceptance by keeping up with said non-wankybike-riding peer group on the road. better hope THAT never happens.

Funny, my grandparrents both ride cruisers and neither of them complain about back problems on long rides. Perhaps you need to strenghten you bones a bit then, drink more milk. Also, I've never been one that has required acceptance from anybody so what do I care what a bunch of foetal position bike riders think of me. Funnily enough it's always the Sprtsbike riders that are always trying to make themselfs look cooler. "Wow Like I am so the fastest one in this group" "did you see me pull the wheelie? Man that was wicked" Seems that they are the ones wanking it on the roadside. But that doesn't matter that's thier choice. They are free to live how they want. Some are cool just as there are some cruiser riders that are wankers. I'm not one of them though.

As for me being a peasant, you're not exactly the fucking queen of england yourself deary.:nya:

I wouldn't say cruisers are my favourite type of bikes but I find it hard to fault someone like waylander who comes across so happy when he talks about throwing his leg over. Some people just seem into riding and thats cool. When I get off my restricted and can get what I want I'd like something like a Bandit 600, freakin mean naked bike. Not too heavy and it'll be the shit, just like my GN is the shit cos it's my bike and I can go anywhere I like. I'm calling time out on the hating of anything with two wheels, there's plenty of people that aren't us doing that already. EVERYONE GO FOR A RIDE! NOW! ASAP!!!!!!!!

could be. I've always been a delicate sort.

wasn't arguing against that.

ah fooey, I dont have the energy for the different-bike-type argument crap.

wrt regard to the whole cruiser vs sportbike vs naked vs em i don't know BMWs, what ever. It should be obvious that the best bike is the one you ride otherwise you'd have been a bit of a tit to buy it in the first place wouldn't you. So with that in mind, if a particular type of person feels obliged to go about on a cruiser (king size or not) or other folk feel the need to express themselves on something a bit sportier, then so be it. But to suggest that theres something wrong with you just because you don't like one or other is moronic.
Surfice to say "sportsbikes rule, cruisers suck"

I'm calling time out on the hating of anything with two wheels!I think this has been thrashed so much on KB that members have become more accepting/accomodating of all kinds of bikes (yes, I would have to include scooters in there too Texmo!). :ride:

I perceive that Ms Fish will wise up soon enough, especially as she approaches the high privilege of *senior* membership at 200 posts, some burn out and never make it that far! :spudwow:
