MNZ PRESIDENT
GLEN WILLIAMS 347 votes
PAUL STEWART 186 votes

SOUTH ISLAND ON ROAD BOARD MEMBER

533 votes for president, I think MNZ has something like 4500 members, just over 10% bothered to vote,

i wonderered about that too Noddyrog, fact is they used to do conferneces around the country, ashburton, taupo paml north all pricks of places to get to then they did one north and one south, chch was south but since the earhtquakes it beacme too costly.
fact is queenstown is the second biggest si airport, good supply of flights and right now is off season so it's actually cheaper to do there....

It still would have been cheaper to have it in Huntly.

Not biggest in length. NO lights ... and restricted to daylight hours only.

The highest number of aircraft movements per day of any NZ airport though ... (this includes helicopters though)

Discounts or not ... still dearer than wellington. (but who wants to attend a conference in wellington)

But NOT cheap to do anything ... NZ tourist capital. (and doesn't smell like rotten eggs)

The Bar hours in Queenstown are better. The Huntly airport is quite restricted ... apparently ...

It probably would have been cheaper to have it in Christchurch too, but why not make a pig of yourself when its someone elses money.

I dunno if my license is valid at the minute.

Well done those who voted, and those who were elected.

As for the original question, yes. We get what we deserve. The biggest whinging that I hear about MNZ is that they do what they like. If the only statistical data they have on who is paying attention is the vote count, why would they think it wasn't OK?

Do NOT lose sight of the fact that in the cases listed all four candidates were probably almost as worthy as each other.
(We'll see how a young buck like Seth works out, but there will be plenty of help for him)
So, as I have indicated in the past, deliberately not voting in this particular year is probably just as valid as voting.
I am not a paid up MNZ member at the moment, but I would not have voted because I would have been happy with any of the candidates.
I am sure that there were many members in that boat, just as I am sure that there were many members who did not give a shit.

In this election there were 3 options for the President, 2x candidates and Abstain. If a voter wasn't happy with either candidate the Abstain option was perfect for them. In this election not voting at all means that person is a lazy, useless prick (not aiming that at steveyb just generally).

10% turn out is most likely a reflection of the effect previous administrations have had on members attitudes.

Voting eh???

Unfortunately 1 person cannot 'make' an organisation, however, 1 person can 'break' an organisation....

It will be so much better ballanced now. NO Dictator No person involved in making rules and selling aftermarket parts, 2 wins for a start and then there is GW and team making it 3 wins

Hi Scott
Membership is at 3657, so that gives us a figure of around 14.5% voting, which i understand is only a small amount more than the last time. (but it didnt go down ;)

As both Paul Stewart and Myself stated at the AGM, Yes it would have been great to see more voting and hopefully we can see the % trend further increase in years to come.

I suppose time will tell ...........

Thanks to those that voted and or made their own considered decisions to vote or not.
Glen Williams

The minute a dedicated " serious" web site is set up where people use real names and license numbers, the sooner you have a system to correlate all feed and put it to work. I am convinced that will draw in more people to actively be involved in what they are involved in.
