:wavey:Hi All
As some of you may know, one of our KB Popo's is leaving the force this friday.:Police:
And I thought it would be nice to start a thread to show our thanks for his support and paitence over the many years.
Rastuscat has repeatedly shown his love for bikes and his clear understanding of the mad buggers piloting them for many many years now...both on the job and on here!
The crap we have asked him and thrown his way is just un-fricken-believable! lol...yet, he has always shown his love of riding, professionalism, understanding and amazing patience with us retards!
Most of us have turned to Rastuscat for advice, tips and friendly banter at some stage...and he has always stepped up for the community and its members, sharing with us, advising us, or simply (But politely!) pointing out the level of our retardation  (I often fall into this boat! :p)
So this friday after work...Im asking you lot to spare a thought, pour a drink, and raise your Glasses to our mate & fellow KBer Rastuscat, and wish him well in his new choosen career -Rider training!...and that really says it all about the guy...a true biker & KBer who wants others to enjoy the fun that we all know...motorcycling:niceone:
So here's to our Rastuscat:drinknsin
https://tanyaolsenblog.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/beer_toast.jpg
ps...Im hoping to leave work a tad early on friday and see if I can run into him, smidsy & fireball...and see if they wanna "Salute" the ol troll bike good bye :laugh:

pps...My wee story, Ol Rastuscat sent me a wee message along time ago to remind me about cameras on the main lights around town...Cos "apparently" some mad fucker had been wheelstanding through most of the lights :shit:...and it had been "noticed"...I promised to keep an eye out for the idiot and see what I could do to have him stop ...and he hasn't been seen since....well...till this coming friday! :D
(Don't worry mate, I'll keep smidsy & Fireball busy )
All the very best for the future Rastuscat...job bloody well done!

For an Ex Coppa! How the hell do you top that Scoob's?
Nice, really nice.
Rastus, you've been a single voice,(OK< there's been 1 or 2, cough others from down thataway) in the wilderness, most on here, though loathe to admit it, listened!
Takes a lot to leave the job, but I believe we a ll know when the time is right.
Looking forward to the day when me and the Mrs get down there to visit you and others who have proved their mettle over the years here on KB.
Take care mate, ride safe and be seeing you one day.
Enjoy Civvy street, it ain't as scary as it seems at first.

RC. Always forthright without being offensive. Some here could learn from that.
I've had very recent dealings with the man via PM in which he not only gave me an answer but gave me the reason behind why a certain legal thing was treated a certain way. Having this approach to training is gold so I'm sure he'll be churning out some smart riders in his new life. I wish you well RC!

Hope it all works out well for you. You always seemed like a sensible and thoughtful chap so I can't see whey it wouldn't...
If nothing else you have always been a thoughtful contributor to KB and always valued your posts (hope that's not going to change)
Well done and good luck!

Last day RC!
Hope they laid out plenty of donuts at morning smoko for ya. I can see why you are leaving though, as you are one of the more sane ones.
Hope the future is bright.

Leaving the force does not automatically mean you leave KB - so I guess for us it will be business as usual but good luck with your new commercial life! :niceone:

Leaving the force does not automatically mean you leave KB -
Can't be done. Hotel California...
I was rummaging around in the KB basement archives last week, WINJA and Finn were still chained to the wall, The Dover was "on the block", SPB was peering through the glass and Sallo was wandering around looking for "someone".
They all said "Hi!".
What the hell happened to Finn anyway?
.. and best wishes in your new job Rastuscat.

They're all painting WINJA's roof...
haven't been on KB for ages. Thought I'd better add my good wishes for RC. We had some great exchanges quite some time back

So where's the debrief on the happenings of the last day at work. Any pranks, unpatching ceremonies etc...
I was thinking off you the other day. One of your colleagues here was camped out in mufti by railway lines near busy roundabout. He starting to make a habit of it too.
Using a laser he is monitoring double lanes up road for speeders. Have only seen him do one ticket and I'm going past every 20mins...
Guess whats going on just outside his perihipal vision....???? An epidemic of roundabout users not indicating left to exit which on a three road roundabout causes much unneeded ques....

Hi Y'all
Basically the last couple of weeks at work were the ruggedest (if that word exists) I've had in my life, so KB hasn't been on the horizon for me. In 27 years I've had 2 wives, a long term partner, lots of bikes, three step sons and just the one job. And I just jacked it in.
Just a wee summary. I am so glad I'm gone. The Turning of The Tide license fiasco in Manukau last night is a perfect example of why I just couldn't work for that place any more. I'm so relieved, despite the pressure coming on from the gravy train not stopping by my bank any more. As a side bar, that compliance scheme is actually a good idea, but it's being applied on a racial basis, and that's not a good idea.
I'm 3 days into my 7 day Instructors endorsement course. And here's a revelation. If you want to be a motorcycle instructor, you have to do a car instructors course. In my case, a car instructors course which is being taught by a truck instructor. Motorcycles only get mentioned when I raise them.
I'm learning how to teach all the car skills, and if anyone wants a master class on hill starts in a new Corolla, I'm your man.
It seems that the course is about getting a box ticked, and then I can start learning hands-on from my mentor, Dan Ornsby. My skills from the years of patrol riding and instructing will be handy, but exactly how to deliver them is the challenge. Anyway, that's for another day. In reality, I am actually learning stuff about learning techniques, instructional techniques, etc etc etc. There really is some good stuff in the course, and I just can't wait to get it behind me.
I've almost turned to the dark side (Ducati ownership). The new Scrambler looks dead cool. But then I realize that all my riding gear is BMW, and I think I'd look dead naff riding a Duke in Beemer gear. First world problem, I know.
Anyone see the post on the helmet issue? On the Police and Politics thread. Good for a laugh.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm back, and sadly, I'm here to stay.
