Blatter should go. Even if he is clean himself he presides over an organisation, which anyone who has been around football for a while, knows is dirty. It's systematic corruption and he's in charge of the system.

I can't bring myself to give a shit about this whole thing. It's a sport organisation, already the least important thing in the world. Doing deals with already-corrupt governments, so nothing new there. Who honestly gives a shit, and why?

BREAKING: Swiss Police confirm that, when arrested, all seven FIFA officials threw themselves on the ground and pretended to be injured!

Also: In tomorrow's annual FIFA meeting, it is expected Mr Blatter will be re-elected to his post for a fifth term.
In a statement yesterday evening in which he said FIFA is going through a difficult period, such misconduct 'has no place in football and I need to be re-elected to sort this out, it will only take me a year.....or if I buy a faster shredder, 6 months.

Foot-soccer-ball. Something that used to be about a third way decent, turned into a fucking fiasco by corruption, hollywooding, riotous fans... and a game seemingly evolved to elicit more draws than any other sport. :puke:

Someone had the right idea when they picked the fucking thing up and ran with it.

Is Sepp Blatter the new Houdini ? I thought he'd be the first one hauled out of bed .

I suspect that he's been smart enough not to ask for bribes, he probably just takes a small percentage commission for negotiating multi-billion dollar commercial deals and then uses the money that FIFA gets from those deals to bribe* national associations to vote for him next time around.

*Except that it's not a "bribe" to give a tin-pot island nation $2mil for a new stadium, it's "investing in the game". Oceania, which includes us, is going to vote for him as president again and it makes me fucking sick that some of the fees that I pay to Auckland Football Federation no doubt find their way to an organisation that's going to support him.

1) If Blatter didn't know what was going on he is incredibly stupid and needs to go

2) Blatter is continuing to deny it all ... which means either he is incredibly stupid (because he doesn't believe he'll get caught) ... or he wasn't involved in any shape or form and he knows they will find nothing on him .. (in that case see 1 above).

Blatter should go ..

Yet again the yanks take action in another jurisdiction only to protect their sacred dollar.
FIFA is a Swiss based organisation -none of their bloody business

Brits, South Americans and Europeans play football. Yanks don't play much football or bother to watch it so why are they intervening in someone else's sport? $$$$$

Like all the wars they step in to play the good sheriff, they only do so if there's an ulterior motive or cash benefit for themselves. In this case the US based Media moguls have no doubt been moaning in the Feds ears that those greedy Europeans are not playing ball so can Uncle Sam red card them.

Personally I don't follow football or give a damn about how it's H.O. operates. Nor should the US Feds.

FIFA is a Swiss based organisation -none of their bloody business

The investigations stem from bribes accepted by Chuck Blazer as head of CONCACAF, which is the body in charge of US, Canadian and Carribean football and is based in Miami.

The Yanks also take the view, that if money is laundered through their banking system, then you've committed a crime in their jurisdiction.

Brits, South Americans and Europeans play football. Yanks don't play much football or bother to watch it so why are they intervening in someone else's sport? $$$$$

It's actually growing strongly with kids and women. 30% of American families have someone playing the game, which is second only to baseball.

Personally I don't follow football or give a damn about how it's H.O. operates.

Not surprising really. Do you reckon Sepp could get away with deciding where any World Cup is to be held by not asking the question, "So, how did you guys come to the conclusion that Qatar, that exceptionally well known footballing nation, was the best place to hold the World Cup?"?

A financial penalty, pun intended, for a financial crime. Wet bus tickets all round.

You can't be president of the U.S. for more than two terms. It's a good thing, that stops someone becoming embedded and getting too used to kickbacks and whatever perks they get.

Beats me why an organisation like FIFA doesn't have similar rules.

It's good to have someone with "experience" in charge, but let it go on too long and it's hardly surprising they become oligarchs, and drift into corruption.

.

Would you believe ... since 2001, the president has earned a $400,000 annual salary, along with a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and $19,000 for entertainment. The most recent raise in salary was approved by Congress and President Bill Clinton in 1999 and went into effect in 2001. (Wiki)

Apparently they make more money after their presidency from speakeing engagements.

There rich & powerful!...hence there corrupt, driven by greed and think there above the law.

...and with most of the PLANETS police and justice systems just standing back doing absolutely nothing but make special allowances for them...you can understand why they think there above the law and the rest of us.(Just look at our own politicians!...they stand on TV most nights announcing sweeping changes that only benefit there own personal "business interests", and the cops and serious fraud office etc just turn a blind eye to the blatant truth...cos its just to hard to arrest the rich!)

You miss my point completely (Jeez .. don't drop me in with the other bunch ...)

Sepp was gone - no surprise there .. just how and when ...

Over the weekend he argued and fought .. and got re-elected ... I expected a longer fight ... maybe an arrest ... then he would go ...

Suddenly Mr Blatter, out of the blue, resigns ... That was a surprise .. you can't tell me that on Wednesday you expected Sepp to resign the following day ...

Settle, not a treaty pun, dear. (from here on in I'm gonna be exceptionally tempted to do just that given that you chose to respond like the other bunch... if the cap fits like :bleh:).

I can see why you're surprised, but find that surprise surprising and communicated such in my own unique way ;). I lubz you.

The biggest surprise, for me, was that he went for re-election at all and didn't spend that time running for the hills (or that seed place in Norway)... although even that isn't really a big surprise given that not going up for re-election would have made him look even more guilty.

It was just like being back at Meadow Lane.
