hello, not long been here from the U.K.
Does the TT have a big following in NZ? I have just seen that it will be aired on sky here :2thumbsup
Any predictions on who you think will be king of the hill this year??

There are currently fourteen kiwis from our small group of sidecar followers up there at the moment supporting three teams. Yeah, we're into it.
Of course Moly will win the sidecar class.

Lucky you!! Not on Sky here in the UK. The best you can get is highlights every night on ITV4.
Now you are living in NZ, you better support Bruce Anstey
Enjoy the races!

As posted in the Racing forum, there was a storm on the Island overnight; roads closed, trees down and many campers had a real "adventure". Some locals have offered their homes for the campers to dry out their kit, get a hot shower and a cuppa. Nice people.
If Anstey, Martin or McPint win I'll be happy.

Not really I was referring to having already mentioned the storm in the MotoGP thread in the KB raing forum. The storm started to be mentioned last night on Twitter because of the mountain road being closed, then the crews going out to clear the fallen trees around the island.
Haven't looked at Twitter since early this morning.

The locals on the island are bloody brilliant! There are people opening their doors to visitors, local halls and buildings saying "get inside and dry out a bit".
Marvelous community. Well done to them!
Looks like practice is untimed, due to the conditions.

Last night they said the rain had stopped but it was blowing a gale and freezing cold. The practice sessions were running but there was a report that the timing wasn't working because of the wind?

The ITV4 coverage is all there ever is for TV. The TT is never shown live. It would more than a logistical nightmare to get any kind of continuity with the hundreds of cameras, start intervals of the bikes and other technical difficulties. They basically edit continuously until just before the 1 hour programme goes out each night. There was a programme all about this coverage a couple of years ago.
It's almost impossible to pick a winner(s). The top 10 are all fit and well and on great bikes. Top 20 are all capable also. Bruce looks good and has never won a SBK/Sen race, so he'll surely be out to win. Rule out John if you dare! Can Michael get the R1 to work? We'll find out on Saturday, weather permitting, at least for the first race.
Can't wait...

I can confirm that it was fucking freezing during that storm. Even the locals were complaining that it was bitterly cold for this time of year.
I'm here with the Carl Cox Motorsport sidecar entry - during testing at Jurby on Tues I had to go sit in the car. Even with two thermals, a shirt, a hoodie and a jacket over top I was losing feeling in my body. AND IT'S APPARENTLY SUMMER!
Sidecars finally got some practice in last night, but it was cut short again. As it is most of the entries haven't been able to complete enough laps (3) to qualify so hopefully they've shuffled the schedule tonight to send them out first. So frustrating sitting around waiting.
Had a chat with Mr Anstey yesterday and he seems he's his typically relaxed self.
Prize for best sounding bike is hands down the Norton of Cam Donald. It sounds absolutely mental and mindblowingly loud.

It's gratifying that somebody actually noticed. I was beginning to think that the clip was going to pass without comment.
Hard to say what Hutchy had done, I assumed he'd hit a big bump. Yes, that struck me as very close too, probably struck Dunlop that way as well.

Yeah, quite unusual, as it was well down the straight. Maybe there'll be something in an interview later? If someone asks him about it. Being on YT now, plenty of people will have seen it and be asking the same thing.

Yep, he had the brakes in the middle of the dip instead of just on it or well before it, he just wanted to pass MD ASAP< other wise he would have had to hang behind him for a few miles before he would get another shot t passing him. That was the first corner I ever crashed on there, exiting it actually

I think you're right about the kerb. They had passed the end of it by then. Though he would have had to be to the right if he wanted to pass Michael.
Heard Hutchies comment on it tonight, on the chat show (7.30pm every day, our time). He said something like the front came up under power (bumps are ubiquitous of course!), then the wind got under it. He wasn't actually totally sure what happened himself! He said he's apologised to Michael profusely, though he thinks he's still a bit miffed!

Things NOT good at the Isle today
There's been an announcement of an incident with a helicopter ( poss near Creg). No more news as yet)
Helicopter down in creg sounds like it crashed !
The wind is really picking up now
\
Bugger Dam poos an wees for them all
UPDATE
Just 1 involved. Private helicopter. Not from Island. Being treated
update update from a friend who is a marshall over there
hey Shaun - looking at the strong winds i would be surprised to see anything today mate. latest news is 'possibly' looking at 5pm sidecar race today. they have also run out of hospital bed spaces at the moment!!!!!
Another update then bugger it, I am going to bed
Gary Thompson, TT CoC, says is questionable if airmed could fly at the moment and that that they've been informed that there are no beds available at Nobles hospital at the moment.
The current provisional schedule is now:
Roads closing 3.15pm from Ramsey, 3.30pm Mountain, 4pm rest of the course
Sidecar race start 5pm
Parade lap 4.30pm
Solo Practices after that
He stresses that is provisional.

It went pretty good - second places (behind Hutchy who was having a blinding week) in both 600 Supersport races and 2nd behind McPint in the Leccy bike race. OK finishes in both the 1000 Superstock and Senior races.
John McG set a new outright lap record (approx. 132.7 mph) on Lap 2 of the (shortened) Senior TT, so Bruce has that to get back next year.

4 guys went over Bruce's old record, which is quite astonishing, in my opinion. The pace needed to win a big race now is incredible. Wonder how quick they'll go next year?

It is supercharged...which is illegal for any circuit racing class. Supercharging was banned in any FIM covered racing classes when racing resumed post WW2. They actually stated that in the TV article.

One article I read thought that Kawasaki more of a headline grabber and a testbed. Apparently supercharging can offer some advantages as to emissions and it was felt that Kawasaki may be looking at the feasability of intoducing a smaller supercharged production bike in future. We will see?

Didn't see it as I wasn't there this year. But apparently James Hillier got 206mph (GPS) out of it on Sulby straight. If made official would be; by some margin, the highest ever top speed on the course.
And yeah, it doesn't fit into any class with its supercharger. The TT organisers could make a dispensation for the Senior, but very unlikely.
