I have an Exide car battery just under two year old. It has never been installed in a vehicle. I unscrewed the caps yesterday and put it on the charger to freshen it up. Plenty of fluid. If I left it on the charger after the light has gone from red to green, do I need to leave the caps off or can they be screwed back in place?. Probably no point leaving it on the charger if I dont have a use for it.
The battery is a 'Maintanance free' battery whatever that is meant to infer.
I had used a battery tester when I took the battery off the charger which showed half charge on the float. Would this suggest the battery is knackered, or needs more charging althought the indicator is showing green?.
