The MSMA met on Thursday and decided the future of the 125 and 250 classes at GPs from now to 2015. The 125s will stay unchanged, as will 250s until the end of 2012. The 250 two-strokes will then be joined by 400cc four-stroke twins for two years of cohabitation before the class becomes all four-stroke in 2015. These regs will be ratified in 2008, by which time MotoGP will have an 800cc limit. Saw one of those in half and you've got a 250—or whatever they are going to call it then.
Long way away yet but will be interesting.

I noticed the other day that honda have started producing a 100cc 4-stroke race bike for entry level racers. Was wondering why.

perfect for nothing a 100cc 4-stroke would be.......
will be intresting to see the 400s and 250s race but I would rather they keep it how it is 2stroke in anything 250 and under is where its at... widdowmaker just proves that..

Wouldn't a 100 4 stroke be comparable to a reasonable 50cc aprillia etc type rs50 thing?

If it then moved to the 125 class, wouldn't that mean going for 250cc four strokes as the replacement? If so, that could have a positive in itself. The new tech could see a whole new range of race rep 4stroke 250's becoming available from the main manufacturers. Obviously due to the time frame it wont affect any of us, but could be good for future learners.

Probably, its for entry level club racers (10 year olds etc). What it means tho, is there will be a GP equiv. somewhere.

Its to replace the NSR80 they produced for years. Big market in the states where they still race the YSR80's etc. Seems pretty low tech though.
The NSF100, info here http://powersports.honda.com/preview/06_new_model_index.asp?ModelID=NSF100

Cheap?? $5K USD?? Fark off, imagine what you could spend that on, even over in the States! You'd get a SV650 for that sort of money wouldnt ya?
Dunno why its so expensive, the CRF150 is only $3100?

Its cheap, because its a brand new bike thats had all the work done to it to get it on the track. I'd like to see anyone buy a brand new race bike for 5k. Thats almost beer money. Just wish they'd do the same kit for 250/4s.
