As the title says. Looking to keep the wife happy on those colder missions. I am happy with heated grips but she struggles to keep the fingers happy on the back.

I have an Exo vest, like it, so may as well suggest their products: https://www.exo2theheatinside.com/products/heated-clothing.html

Not sure if the gloves need a heated controller, but the vest sure as hell needed it!

thanks G that is a good indicator. Actually leaning towards the heated mittens, size will be much less of an issue esp when ordering from the states

Obviously extremities get cold because the blood cools as it travels from your core to fingers/toes.

Assuming winter gloves are used, where does your wife keep her hands? Sounds a bit dodgy, but I know my bosses gf commented that the pocket of air between her legs behind his back was actually colder than on the outside of her thighs for example. Other option is your jacket pockets if they are vertical zips.

Otherwise, focus on keeping the core super warm, and you may find fingers don't get cold. Perhaps a balaclava/buff for neck as well.

edit: Mittens are thermally better than gloves as well, as the fingers are treated as a single unit vs individual insulation for each finger and much greater area that can be exposed.

Before spending heaps of money on flash gloves, try using latex gloves under her current gloves. Have not tried it myself, but I've heard it insulates well against the wind/cold when riding.

Nup don't use latex, makes ya hands sweat and can cause other unhealthy issues in the long run.
I use an under glove that blocks out the wind (no good for rain) keeps ya hands toasty. Allows me to keep wearing my summer leather gloves except for the coldest days (on long rides).
Dam good, just can't remember the exact name of the product off hand feck it, er think it's called Windjammer from memory?
They make a whole range of wind stop products, dam good, got the socks too, no more cold feet.

I have Gerbing heated gloves http://www.heatedclothing4u.com/#!motorcycle-clothes-and-gloves/c254y
They keep up with the cold, mine are wired to the batt and use an on/off swtch, you can get a controller.
Ive just ordered the Hybrid battery (pair) as the cords are a pita on day rides but ok on trips away.

I tried heated gloves once, but found them too fiddly. Maybe I haven't been anywhere cold enough, but I've never yet found a place where a good pair of fleece-lined Gore-Tex Olympus gloves were not sufficient... but then my tank range is often about 120 miles so not enough time to get really cold...

Those Hybrid gloves look like the go thanks Mulletman. Best of both worlds!

......and they heat the whole of your hand not just the palm area. Great idea but personally, could I be arsed?

There used to be some heated ski mittens on TM, but not on there recently. They use batteries, and last more than a days ride. A good feature is the finger area unzips revealing a glove liner - that would be handy doing adjustments after gloves on. I'm using ski mittens at the moment, far warmer than motorcycle gloves, but still got cold thumbs this morning.

In my experience it's colder being a pillion than a rider. Did the Cold Kiwi once as a pillion on my wife's rigid Triumph, no way to snuggle up behind her with separate sprung seats.

Take out the stitching in the bottom of YOUR pants pocket ... and instruct her to keep her hands in there ...

BOTH of you will then be happier ....

More stops MAY be required ... or not .. :(

And you wonder why London has a law about sex on a parked motorcycle?

Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.

the heated vest won't be any larger than a pair of mittens and much more usuable.
cold fingers are cause the body is shutting down blood flow to them to conserve the heat in the core, heat the core, the fingers get a flow of blood back and stay warm.

I don't believe that one - I have just come from commuting by pushbike for over 5 years. The body core gets very warm peddling hard - but the faster you go the colder the fingers, ears and nose. It became a balance between warming up, and not going fast enough to freeze the fingers.

Fair enough jelly I am aware of that but basing my decision on how well my heated grips work.
Oh and FJ, cutting the bottoms out of my long pockets is the last thing my scottish ancestors would want! I like the way you think tho!

Nah your 'core' can be overheating while your hands are going numb from the cold, easy as.

Dont bother with all the fiddly wire and wiring etc, get yourself a pair of "Rainoff' gloves, rain hail or shine these are the best purchase i have ever made in 53years of motorcycling for the hands. I ride every day to work in all weather conditions Rain-off gloves do the job 100%.
I won a pair of Hot Grips some time ago, fitted them to the bike before this winter, and as far as iam concerned would never waste my money buying a pair, they only keep the underside of your hands warm, its the top of your hands you need to keep warm. Rain-offs do the job.

Unfortunately Rain-off has been sold to the aussies. Website is missing images etc, local dealers have been ditched (depsite still being listed as stockists on the website), and last time I looked shipping was stupid prices. The best part is the 'contact' page asking the reader to just click the email address, 'don't fill in the bloody form below'.

I would have agreed back when it was an NZ company but I'd be careful now.

I bought myself a pair of Gerbing EX gloves and they do a very good job of heating the fingers and back of the hands.

I rate them for keeping your hands warm 9 out of 10
Putting them 6 out of 10

Sadly there is no local dealer so you will have to buy them from the states or uk, Don't try to buy them from Gerbing.com as the will charge you us$130 for shipping. I had to buy mine from PERF-MOTO on ebay with out any issues.
