Bike rego form turned up today, or to be more specific, the ''all new'' rego form.
Words in bold 'Renew on time to avoid a fine' printed within a huge circle in the middle of the form.
A fine? not enforceable surely? mind games perhaps?

Yeah, saw that a couple of weeks ago when the van one came... Your eyes instantly go to the "fine" part and you're thinking WTF?
Presumably the fine references if you're caught driving an unregistered vehicle... but yes, mind games indeed.

It's so when KBer's post and whinge about being pulled over and fined for not having a current rego the police can remind them of the reminder.
Or
Big brother is using scare tactics.
I always rego mine. Part of the cost of ownership.

Not that long ago. But I have a job and can pay my own way.
When was the last time you had a motorcycle that could be ridden?

Registration is the process where we add a vehicle’s details to the Motor Vehicle Register and issue its registration plates. Ordinarily, this is a one off process when the vehicle is first imported to New Zealand.
It is different from Vehicle licensing which is where you pay a regular fee to use your vehicle on public roads. The fee helps to pay for roading projects and road safety programmes. Your vehicle must be both registered and licensed for you to legally drive it on the road.

I understood that if the re licence fee was not paid then it could be collected via a debt collection agency unless the rego was put on hold.
Of course I 'could' be wrong, :oi-grr::oi-grr: I was once,,,,,, :argh:

Get it right, Tazz may correct you, apparently you put your 'Vehicle licensing' on hold.
Hair splitting .Below is word for word on the form from the NZTA.
'Hi Mark, you Trumph's licence (rego) will expire on 18 July 2015'

They will lodge a debt collection claim if the vehicle licence goes unpaid for a year without exemption, at which time they will also cancel the rego

Incidentally, I discovered when selling a car, best not to renew your rego prior to sale. Minimum rego period is 3 months but if you sell the vehicle, they just send you a payment demand for the unpaid time in your ownership.
In my case - 6 days :D

Well they are obviously using propaganda here. Faulty propaganda.
I've never received a fine and choose not to register my bike.
I guess it's like the "speed kills" propaganda. Probably came out of the same office in Wellytown's "Ministry of Claptrap and Bullshit".

Probably came up with it while they were daydreaming around the east coast in their i40 at i40km/h....
