I got ALL of them wrong :( does that mean I'm demented?
~~**~~
Test for Dementia
Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK?
Let's find out just how clever you really are.
Ready? GO!!! (scroll down)
First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!
Try not to screw up in the next question.
To answer the second question, don't take as much time as you took for the first question.
Second Question:
If you overtake the last person, then you are...?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?
You're not very good at this! Are you?
Third Question:
Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only.
Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total?
Scroll down for answer.
Did you get 5000?
The correct answer is actually 4100.
Don't believe it? Check with your calculator! Today is definitely not your day. Maybe you will get the last question right?
Fourth Question:
Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono.
What is the name of the fifth daughter?
Answer: Nunu?
NO! Of course not.
Her name is Mary. Read the question again
Okay, now the bonus round:
There is a mute person who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.
Now if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how should he express himself?
He just has to open his mouth and ask, so simple.

their not really dementia tests you silly people, their just little trick questions exploiting pop psychology and typical comprehension patterns to fuddle you up.
if theyres one thing I cant stand, its people who use questions like that in job interviews.
any job you get interviewed for and they aks you a question ilke that, walk straight out the door, because their wankers who dont actually undersatnd the nature of measurable intelligence.
I hereby piss on all 'aha' riddles.

:wavey: we KNOW that [at least, i think we all do?] ........ but its fuuuuuuun!!
of course.
I just have some 'history' in that area involving fighting the fine fight against misguided pasty-fat-white-boy intellectual elitism.
and reading these kinds of puzzles gives me flashbacks.
i'll just be over in the corner rocking back and forth and moaning softly for a bit. scuse me.
also note that I make no apologies for my quoting.

Only one I got wrong was the Maths one and I didn't need to use a calculator to prove it was 4100 - once I read it I realised where I screwed up.
Standard tests for dementia include asking the subject common knowledge questions and personal questions they should know the answer to - like the names of their children etc.

You impertinent little whippersnapper! I got the first one right and thought "yay, on a roll here!" but then got all except the last one wrong...
Maths was never my strong point, realised exactly what I'd done wrong when I had another look, but then I tried to pay full price for a "buy one, get one free" deal on cat food at the vet's last week...
Besides, I already knew I was on the downward slope to senility... :weep:

see, 'failing' the 'test' proves your normal. in your case, a very relative sense of normal, of course.
sniper is obviously just a psychopath or something.

Not quite, I can find you the phycopath test that is at home. I failed that one though. The voices in my head did give me the right answer so I guess I also cheated

I thought "simple, A, E, I, O, U, so... Hold on, it said Mary's father..."
Mind you, I do read a lot of brain teaser problems, riddles etc so I'm used to "gotchas"
It's like the "You are the driver of a train that leaves New York at..." one that bombards you with a lot of information then asks "what is the train driver's name?" The clue is in the first sentence, all the rest is smokescreen to make you drop the relevant info.

Thing with these is you KNOW there's a "catch" and the apparently obvious answer will be wrong. So I discount that and look for an 'alternative answer" Usually the trick is to VERY carefully read the question.

What throws you out is the statement "answer as quickly as possible." It is an easy test

They make that statement because they know full well you will, as Ixion said, twig that there's a catch and look for the non-obvious answer if you spend more than two seconds on it.

why can't they ask questions like...
how many wheels on a motorbike?
Or which is faster... a red bike or a yellow bike?

 I only got the math one, and I hate maths... Started trying to keep track, then I realised it was all addition, so I added all the 1000s, then the rest to 100, and was pleased as punch that I had got one right. :yeah:
Psychopath test is on here already... do a search...

To the people who got most/all of the questions right? Did you actually skim through it with out thinking for a sec or did you stop to think?
I usually do very well in IQ tests but since I was instructed to not think twice and answer them instantly, I got all of them wrong...
Or maybe I am just dumb as well :slap:

lol it was entertaining though...
I'm not sure if those on-line IQ tests are that accurate... did one... gave me an IQ of 124, did one off another website and got like an 84 and a third one gave me 116 or something... shouldn't they all show the same sort of results?

Not nessesarily. It all depends on how the test was worded. I managed to get 235 out of one test but Im usually sitting on the 190 to 200 mark. Doesn't prove anything though.

FFS, accept responsibility for your own feelings! You choose to get "hot" over intelligent psychopaths.
Sniper's got enough problems being a psychopath without you blaming him for your deviant sexual urges.
