Found this,

One of the benefits of cold weather clothing is resistance to ground abrasive resistance.

Translation ... the less you wear ... the more you might need it.

Winter conditions often dictate you might need it.





And ... after 2 hours on high ... will you be able to buy/replace the battery ... ??? or will your last hour and a half be "in the cold" .. ??

Better to wear good gear in the first place.

But ... Journey travel times are usually based on warm weather travel times.

Out of my budget plus I'd never remember to charge em, but I can see how they're tempting, especially if you're switching between riding that involves physical exertion and then the highway.

I couldn't see any NZ price. Might be worth looking at. In my 'old age' I am beginning to concede my 'Hard man old school' attitudes for a bit more comfort these days. Have even thought about heated grips. :msn-wink:

I just like the idea of being warm on cool mornings without having to carry extra gear then having nowhere to put it once the day warms.

I already use the Avade base layer but have a Soft shell jacket and the tri zone base layer (which I hope will be nicer to wear with the brushed lining) on the way through Motomox. His first lot is due this week. There's other stuff like the glove liners which might be interesting for pillions with cold hands.

Having a second battery is good so you can use one and charge one at the same time if not simply give you more time.

On big highway trips where I'm not Adventuring with gates etc I also have some 12v 'plug in to bike' stuff bought online from Revzilla but got stung for the gst and import dutys when buying a couple of liners at once (mine and hers).

I love heated gear on and now off the bike and will never be without it again even with the price tags as they are.

Motomox - some interesting gear

I like the idea of heated stuff, but haven't warmed to the reliability just yet.
very interested in what people find, esp now that battery technology is changing fast.
Hadnt thought about second battery much, going to have to look at what capacity the charging system is capable of. Keen also to see developments on this side too.
