I use CRC to start my log fire every night.
Bit of paper, bit of kindling couple squirts liquid CRC in an old window cleaner squirty bottle, just the bees knees :)
The great trick about CRC is you can squirt it on a naked flame (within the log fire) if it wont go, and the shit doesnt go boom it just flares the fire up again without igniting back to the bottle and burns on the wood long enough to kick start it.

i lived with a couple of other moto boys in my 20's, we were all trying to spend as much money on racing as possible so did not bother with such luxuries as fire lighters, but a bit of pre mix, poured on top then firing matches from a couple of metres back, how the fuck we did not burn that house down is amazing,

Always fun starting the workshop pot belly stove...if I've got it, I use methylated spirits, about a 1/4 cup dropped onto kindling.

If I haven't got meths, it's a very small amount of petrol - and stand well back......
