Well after years of road bike and racing pre89 I have got my hands on a wr450 that I intend doing a few enduro's.

The rear in the book says it needs a 130-90-18 but the rear on it at the moment is a 120-90-18.

Im thinking of the michlen 12xc tyres may be the best all round tyre but wonder what the best size for the rear out of the 130-80-18 or 140 80-18 as they don't come in a 130-90-18.
the front is a 90-90-21 which is right size.

Any comments/advise please:2thumbsup

A 120 should be fine. You'll find different sizing across the knobs if you measure from different manufacturers anyway.
I have found the Pirelli Scorpian MX extra the best all rounder I have ever fitted. Lasts well hooks up in most all conditions.
I guess you might get 5% more with a specialist tyre for the conditions IE winter/summer, Soft /hard but TBH the MX extra pretty much does it all.
Just my 2c

120/90 in michlin is 100/100 in everything else, they run funny sizes,

in micheln a 130/90 will be fine, a 140/90 if you want to,
in everything else, a 110/100 will be fine a 120/100

Ah Scott will know,

I applied a Pirelli theory to the michelin which was incorrect.

My 200exc runs a 120/100 MX extra.

Im looking at the Miclelin m12xc and they come in 120-90 , 130-80 and 140-80.

Would the 130 be the best choice? as there on special at the moment:2thumbsup. I can get a pair for less than a front for the road race bike :drool::drool::drool:.

michelin use a old European sizing system for there off road tyres just so that they can confuse everyone, or have bragging rites mines bigger than yours.

120-90 = a 100/100 in every one else's sizing, 130-80=110/100 and 140-80=120/100, the 110 option (or 130 in Michelin speak)would be the best sizing for your 450.
