I say bring it on, and I hope they'll sell bucket loads.

The take anywhere motorcycles. Go hard enough to run with the jap bikes and are cool enough to show with the Harleys. Everyone is cool with them, even the other Euros.

I like them hotted up a fair bit from standard so they charge even harder and they can be tweaked to most acceptable outputs.

Not cheap, and many are ridden by the fast rider with a touch of grey that comes with 'disposable' income.

The brand has factory supported riding association that has made me some true friends. Not just a brand of bike - there is some 'lifestyle' associated with owning one.

Triumphs rock baby.

Good try at replicating the coolest bike Triumph ever made but...

For godsake they made a bloody hash of the pipes.... The one bit that HAD to be right and they screwed it up. They are dreadful.....

For once the header bends look OK but they are too long and they went with replicating the cooler 66/67 sort with the staggered tailpipes... Which is good but the short tail pipe ruin the balance.... Frankly, the mufflers suck. They are sticking with the parallel sides which don't work. Go for the teardrop shape. BSA was the straight sided muffler bunnies... They are pushed to the back of the bike to tuck in behind the shocks. Argh! Who cares if they are not practical as long as the look COOL!!!

The heat shields.... Oh god.... Gouge out my eyes... They are off a CL450 honda... aaarrgghh... Classic triumphs solved the muffler too far back problem with the 69/70 toast rack...

Oh well.... At least it's an acknowledgement that my own original C bike is cooler than cool.... (see below)

6 out of 10 but PLEASE Mr Bloor - Fire the person that designs your pipes....

All good points Paul, but remember the poor buggers have to work within the limitations of European Design "Standards" and all the attendant "safety" minutiae. That sort of stuff didn't exist when the lovely machine in the picture you provided was "designed" ( I use the term loosely).

Not even a little bit. In fact he would have had a good laugh the first time he saw some canvas throwovers aflame, thanks to the high pipes.

Just like the Fonz....

They could have gone with the one each side look from 66 but that was more a desert sled thing and yes, both pipes on the left was US flat track inspired (aka HD XR750) but the staggered 67 look... Ahhh... NICE!

In all seriousness... A Trackmaster version would be very cool... Motors a bit chunky lookin but.....

Getting hard to remember what thread I posted on?
Big round of applause to Triumph. I hope the 675 cleans up the sports bike sales chart. Triumph deserve the reward for yet again being bold and different when the rest of the pack just tweak the same old recipe.
That red picture Big Dave posted is stunning.
From the pics, specs and pre-production road tests in the latest UK Bike & NZ MC Trader it looks like this might be one VERY special bike.
I was thinking about getting the next ZX10 but this looks far more interesting and hopefully a more rewarding ride.
What a great time to be a bike rider.

Of the bike I currently lust after ,,ie actually think about putting down cash ,,,is ..:mega:.ANOTHER ENFIELD ... The Urinal nightwolf or whatever its called and that triumph or the older 2 valve BMW off roader ( forget the modell code right now ,,the white one with the white power shock )

Stephen

Don't worry... Some clever clogs will be tooling up to fix this problem as we speak... Dear old TOGA have been churning out mufflers for yonks and will have a kit...

For those of you that think I'm mad or a triumph basher, I'm NOT. But saftey issues aside there is no excuse for poor design work and sloppy research...

Compare pictures below and I think you could agree it's more Honda CL450 and Triumph Trophy.. (Mines the green one far right) The bike they are trying to revive is the green/white 67 with the staggered pipes. But it didn't work because the pipes don't work with the rest of the bike (In my opinion only)

Triumph stuffed up the design with mine when they went for parallel outlets as they had to add an H piece and use bigger mufflers to keep the noise down (they just reused existing ones off another model) but it is still a vastly more organic line and lots prettier...

They might sell a few to people who are old enough to remember Bud Ekins and Steve McQueen. If you have to ask who they are/were I guess the bike isn't aimed at you... There is a definite nostalgia thing going on with that model.

In the 70s the "street scramblers" were mostly sold in the US market and I wouldn't be surprised if that's where most of them wind up now.

What the Triumph twins had over all the other British twins was not only was it lighter, but it felt lighter too - the handling may of been crap, but it was just so flickable, the motor wasn't as powerful as the others either, but it was a happy revver which fitted in with the light flickable handling. Can't see myself tossing that thing around like it was a 69 Trophy....

My new neighbour arrived on a new one of these the other day and I think it's a really nice little bike.
I say little (1050?) not because of cc rating but because it is a nice wee compact no nonsense bike and it sounds very businesslike as it goes by our house.
I really like it as a bike but I wouldn't buy one for myself (it's not my style) but I sure as hell think it is nice.

What? Were you listening to what Vege said - word for word almost.
It isn't a 69 trophy. They didn't have to meet Euro 6 emission and noise standards for starters - come to think of it the didn't have starters. This one does - and a fuck off big battery and 'the tail light from a '57 Plymouth' and a large alternator.

Yep, it's a great time to be a biker! Trouble is, I get so confused when having to make a choice, (just ask my wife!), I just seem to keep riding my old GSX! It goes like stink, is exc on gravel, (except on corrugations!), and handles well enough for my skill level, plus it is just utterly reliable! W hat more could one want? I'd love a new Triumph, maybe the Bonnie with some better looking pipes, but the new Scrambler does "It" for me, too! Always liked the T-Bird, and my mate's got a '05 Daytona that looks and sounds real sexy! I do think, though, that the Kawasaki W650 is truer to the concept and I've seen aftermarket side pipes on one and it really looked great! Didn't Vege put off-road tyres on one and go bush with it? :grouphug:

No sorry - I don't know.
I do know they are going to be hard to get for at least 12 months maybe 18. Worldwide interest and pre-orders have been 'phenomenal'.
The earlier you sling some money down the further up the list you'll be.

A bit more expensive than a Honda and cheaper than a Harley is a safe bet.
