After getting the news of being made Redundant on thursday(ffs!)...I thought, what #$#% next?(Just bought a house and have third kid on the way...timing eh)
...bad move:blink:
Getting rear ended at the lights was next on the shit list :pinch:
Young girl had a bit of sunstrike...she did see the car waiting infront of me at the lights...she just didn't see me!...I saw her coming up behind FAST in the mirrors(not a nice view to be honest)...released the brakes and just waited for it
...She hit hard!, smacked bang-on the centre line of her bonnet, and punching me forward over a meter...didn't drop the bike tho:sweatdrop, and managed to stop within friken inches of the car infront:woohoo: (Had left over a mtr 1/2 of space luckily)...then had to check the damage.
Her bumper & number plate was smashed in (rear wheel width dent), and the bike has recieved a broken bracket off the rear tail cowl (Must have slid back into it)...other wise all fine (except when we pulled over once through the lights, she was crying so much she nearly stepped into oncoming traffic )
The neck went that night..whiplash!...I don't recommend it ...friggin hurts! (I look like even more of a retard now, all stiff necked and shit lol)
Sooooo...anyone know a good plastic weilder in ChCh...oh, and does anyone have a job for me??

that sucks. Hopefully the local economy is buoyant enough that you find a job OK.
I have used Plastec before (years ago...) and they did OK.
Since her insurers are paying, you might want to get the bike checked over thoroughly both for alignment and mechanically. Is it shaft drive?

Not sure I would want my Crabon Fribe pushbike welded up.

Was time for a change anyway...with all the technical work going up to Auckland I was kinda just spinning my wheels and doing squat in my present role...time to use my quals to get a real job lol (never really had any problems getting work before, so it should be interesting :D)
The bike is absolutely fine other than the rear cowl (Cos honda!..or summin??)...I was just bloody glad I didnt drop her  (now THAT would be expensive)...the neck?...meh, was already messed up from a previous accident lol...this just aggravated it further...a careful mix of wine and nurofen seems to help :laugh:

That sucks.
Life can only get better though!
Congrats on the wee tacker too!
If the time I was rear ended is much to go by: check your wheel and swing arm for true. Mine looked OK by the side of the road but was out by a few degree's when checked. Bearings crushed.

You don't want to do that... The beating you would take would mean being in hospital for quite a while.:oi-grr:

Bugger!
Bloody good balance to not bin it and stop short afterwards.
I hate to sound like Katman but I'm curious. Did you not have room to split beside the car in front when you saw she was likely not going to stop in time?
Bloody heck... not the news to read with an afternoon coffee :shit:
You WILL go to see your GP and get yourself checked out - you never know, you might get back some of that investment you've made in the ACC lottery... and you'd better get your bike checked as well, just to keep a few KBers happy...
Good luck with the job hunting.
The neck went that night..whiplash!...I don't recommend it ...friggin hurts! (I look like even more of a retard now, all stiff necked and shit lol)

What a shock to read this. Thank goodness you are ok. One thing you absolutely MUST do tomorrow. Get yourself to a physiotherapist and make an ACC claim. I imagine you are feeling a whole heap worse today, even if you are not, go lodge an ACC claim. May as well get your levy back at least.
Necks are funny things, they can give you shite years after an injury. Please, please do that eh?
As far as work goes, ummmm. Take care matey.

What he said...
and...
Bugger.
If you have insurance put a claim in, at least you get someone qualified to look things over and you're not out of pocket for fixing the thing. I did this when my dirty old Terrano got rear ended, was all good except for a rear bumper realignment, but didn't want to rock up to next WOF and find something was fucked. And the silly bitch that abused the missus afterwards got to pay her excess as punishment for not paying attention, so all good.
make an ACC claim.
If you have insurance put a claim in
What an interesting commentary on our society...

What an interesting commentary on our society...
It's called covering your arse, ACC and insurance claims put it on record so if/when shit turns up later you're not left hanging out to dry.
Another commentary on our society, I've got a dashcam in my car now, because I've found out the hard way that when you have an accident people (and their mates who are with them) tell lies.

and if your injured and you think nah I will be ok, then a month or two later crap starts to happen, then its on record too.
They cant put it down to old age or RSI etc and fob you off.
I went and got an ACC # AFTER I WAS TOLD TO by a mate I know who suffered by not getting an ACC # and crap did happen 3 weeks later.

Not sure I have reached that place yet. I have thought about it given the piss poor driving skills of some people I see out on the highways. Then I think about all the mistakes I make when driving...

Everyone makes mistakes, when I do I'm more than willing to give an apologetic wave rather than the unlease the torrent of abuse that seems to be more common these days.
What did it for me was pulling over to let someone pass on a single lane road, and having a twat lock it up and slide into me, only to have him and his mate make statements to the insurance company that it was my fault. As the audit boss at work always says, 'evidence, show me the evidence'

Being made redundant makes you strong and shows you a new direction. Sometimes it takes a while to find that direction. It sucks at first, but for all the times I have been made redundant (3) it has improved my life immensely for the better.

Not good at all Willy. Get your Doc to check you out thoroughly and explain to him why you can't do your job because of the neck pain. He will then put it in as an ACC claim and they might pay you for loss of income for a short while. This could cover you until your next employment. After all, you have paid more than enough on ACC premiums through your bike registration over the years. :msn-wink:

Yep although I'm still against the idea of dashcam but collect and preserve evidence.
I got rear ended in the cage awhile ago and some stroppy slapper tried to say I was selfish for not moving my wagon off road. Told her basically what you said, been screwed over by people changing their stories afterwards.
Where I was stopped there was two lanes both ways, truck sized sealed hard shoulder as well so ample tarmac for people to safely go around. Plus being a State highway it promptly got the cops called out as I was technically blocking one lane so NZTA mandates them to get to scene and clear it asap.
And while people will assume if hit from behind you are in the right there can be technical/legal issues that good lawyers can explore. All turned out good in the end and full insurance writeoff and payout.
I though there were plenty of jobs going down south???

There will be no ACC or Trips to my VET etc...my neck was stuffed long before this accident
After the accident and the Girl pulled over, she was crying and shaking and KNEW that she had just fucked up...but what was the damage?...really??...her bumper, my cowl and my neck (again)...car looked mid 90's, cheap rough but clean, and the Girl looked 20-max...what was I to do??...call the popo and have them put her through the wringer?...shove an insurance claim in her face??
...nah!:oi-grr:...I just made sure she was calm enough to drive, there was no damage and left it at that! (Wot??......well at least Im consistantly stupid!<_<)
The Neck will heal, the bikes fine, no need to get the popo or vets or acc involved.
work?...I will be fine :niceone:, plenty of great REF's and a fantastic work history...looking forward to getting a better job to be honest (And the redundancy payout will cover me for at least 4months...paid to leave and seek better for my family...challenge accepted!:msn-wink:)
As for dodging the Girl while stopped at the lights?...nope!, traffic island on my right, car infront blocking any possible gap on his right side, and the cars to my left to close to allow going down the left side of car in front...all I could think of was hang on to the clutch like hell and dump the brakes so I dont go under her...from there I was hoping for luck! lol...seemed to work out ok  (Ive certainly had worse! lol)
again, thanks so much for all the kind words KBers

demanded a blowjob. Its what Akzle would have wanted.
What a bugger. All the best for a new job and the neck. Don't put off getting it checked out - and if it caused some whiplash should be able to get some physio from ACC.
