Might have to start a Bandit thread.
Mine was delivered today at 2pm and I have installed the boulevard rack via home made adaptions.
I have the pack rack mounting rails if anyone needs some. From 2005 / 1200
Mines got pogo stick suspension that needs sorted.
Ordered a new oil filter since extent of loving is unknown.

1200s are much better than the 1250s that have to cart around all that extra weight with radiators and silly computers.

Your name is relevant to your bike now :msn-wink:

As far as I can tell everything is fine for my bike except the candle they call a headlight.

It has just had valve clearances done, oil with filter, cleaned the K&N air filter, new radiator. Bonus is it has full Givi Rack for panniers and top box, heated grips and a cigarette lighter outlet by the handlebars.

Only thing immediately on the to do list is a new bulb for the headlight. Maybe LED, maybe halogen.

I need to sell the Z1000 before I think about 'zorst, seat or luggage upgrades.

sounds like a decent touring setup
suggest 2 wide angle flood lights to fill in the corners, esp for slow speed corners up close.
the trianglar light setup isnt the greatest.
Ventura do a nice headlight protector
does it have the centre stand-so easy to use :)

Noticed mine wasn't bright when putting it in the garage. Im guilty of only riding it for 30 metres so far. Its howling down.
Just ordered an oil filter. Judging by the loose chain ill need give it some loving.

It has the wires for flood lights, but they were removed when the radiator was replaced. Could be an easy mod for a quiet arvo.

It has velcro in place where a headlight protector once was, easy fix, just not a priority at the moment (until I find a cheap one).

Yea, has the center stand, easy to use with the givi rack. First time I've had a bike with a center stand... Heavy fucker to lift onto when I didn't get the technique right

Apparently these racks won't work with the E series panniers (according to the seller, they are for the V35 etc.).

Mines done no way near as many K's as yours...... it's only got 79,290 K's :innocent:

Ex rental bike. Real good nick, the gear box is so smooth compared to every other bike I've ridden.

good idea the crash guards
suggest Suzuki DL 1000 hand guards they should fit the hydraulic clutch setup (might be wrong but they are really worth it)

have fun.

There is a bit of an issue with the projector lamps in the 1200 bandits, had it with mine. Only fix is to disassemble the front fairing and remove the headlight assembly. Bake it in the oven at 50 degrees to loosen the silicon then take it apart and clean the inside thoroughly. The problem is the low beam lens is held in place with a metal ring, with vibration it slowly grinds the lens and coats the entire thing with a thin layer of dust. A little bit of instant gasket around the outside of the lens when reassembling fixes it.

She's a heavy bitch... But I don't plan on dropping her :wait: Good security though.

I can certainly see Mahas point about heated grips, even moving my thumb to indicate cools down the grips to the point of needing to wait 30 seconds for them to regain heat. Hand guards will be a definite mod, but probably for next winter.

My ride home from picking it up in Maraetai was in the wet... And its wearing Diablo Corsa tires (not exactly what you'd picture on a Bandit right?). I just took it easy, rode the torque wave everywhere.

She will feel heavy because the weight is higher up

Every work day I see a Bandit just like yours coming the other way.
Friday I almost took him/her out, turning right the bike was just a m or 2 behind a car hidden by riding in line with the passenger tyre. Thought I hadnt seen it and wondered if a bike could be there in that blind spot. Yeah there it was.

I prefer the std grips myself. Although heated grips are niceit depends on how you hold your grip.
I ride girly style (thanks spokes for that) covering the brake and clutch. So only heat is via the palms. I do allow myself to grip the bars when there is nothing about. The hand guards are worth it and not too bad a price from Colemans.

The hydraulic clutch is mint.

Cant comment on tyres - I need more experience with tyres
tyres are your greatest asset IMO

Correct, most of the Givi monokey range is for the flat stuff (top and sides). You've got the stepped racks.

Correctamundo, the advantage is the V35 provides a neater line at the arse of the bike but still plenty of storage space.

My FA is on her 2nd set of Angel GTs, I got 14000kms from the first set and was very happy with wet and dry performance. (I am no speedster though) The front was munted but the rear(oddly) was still good for maybe another 1500kms with bit of squaring.

Yup .. I love mine ... well done you ... and I've been to 200 klicks in fourth and it's not near the red line ..

just be a little cautious in the wet.

Yes - this .. the torque will spin up the back wheel in the wet very easily ..

I ran Diablos on my 650 Bandit - hated them ... Pilot Roads seem to suit the 1250 best (for me at least) ... I currently run PR4s .. and they give me huge confidence in the wet ... I wrnt roudn the outside of a car on a wet road ... looked down, 140 something klicks on the clock ... oops ..

The can be like that - I changed both front and rear suspension, then went back to the standard setting on the rear - (every bump I felt through my spine) .. just tightening up the front was enough of a change on mine ..

I suggest you change the front setting first - and then the rear if that doesn't qwuite suit.

I'm looking at putting an Ohlins rear shock on mine ..

I had a look at the pic ...

Change the can - it weighs 6.5 kilogrammes and adds it to ONE side of the bike ... that's a lot on one side only - and a better can will add horses ... the standard pipe is quite restricted.

I've also added braided lines to mine - made a huge difference to the brakes, put on a radiator cover ( I worry about small stones damaging it ...)

I source a lot of after-market parts from these people - excellent service pricing good (even with the post and package costs ..

Likely most time spent with wifey on back and or luggage. Its got 30mm approx static sag with just me. Original unserviceable 82km shock that isn't in good nick. The other option is a B-King shock which is adjustable and 321mm eye/eye only 1mm longer than bandit. I need try it 2 up and see how bad this stock shock would be.

With the stock shock on my missus asked me at the end of our first proper ride what the noise was everytime we went around a corner.

I showed her what was happening to the pegs. To me a bike that scrapes that easily is dangerous.

Told you the bike reminded me of a blackbird. That scraped fairings, pegs, centre stand and exhaust if you hit a hollow mid corner two up.
I think my shock would reach hardtail status loaded two up with luggage. I would have to use swingarm flex as suspension.

presumably it makes a tad of difference?

I splashed a bit and put a Nitron on mine, built for me. Hence having the original sitting in the garage. I am not a speedster but I have a lot more confidence in the bike and tyre wear has changed dramatically.

I do wonder why these options are not available from the factory. I would pay for that before colour coded luggage.

I'm definitely looking at other shock options right now. The standard one is a PITA to try adjust, and has a minimal amount of adjustment.

If the FA shock is better and obviously much lower mileage, I'll defo buy it off you. I can't afford a new shock at the moment, so second hand is ideal.

I want to rebuild the front with progressive forks.

GSXR1000 is good option. 4 times 2mm thick 13mm hole spacers required for dog bones to clear spring and some battery box removal required. Cost me $75 for the shock.

Busa shock is another option. There was a 2014 busa shock for $200 on tardme.

sure

please remember I said "supposed to be better" that is the official Suzuki line. I am not qualified to endorse or deny. For sure lower mileage and 90% of that was just me and my top box rather than fully loaded with the boss on the back seat.
There is preload and rebound adjustment. The preload is via a C spanner locking into the adjustment collar. Six (or seven?) positions. Not as easy as a remote, but doable. Rebound is via a non-clicking adjuster at the bottom, thats the bit you would probably piss around with a bit and is easy.

I had thought $100 delivered would be a fair price. I could be wrong. PM if you want more details, photos, anything like that.

The problem is the ABS bikes have a big black box hanging down below the battery. It hasn't got a lot of clearance between itself and the top of the shock. A lot of shocks have the reservoir where the black box would get in the way.
