View Full Version : Time for her to go

First registered 2006 and one careful lady owner since.
She's been off the road for 18 months, by choice.
BT-16's have about 2k on 'em (potentially less).
One of the forks needs "fixing". "The preloader probably isn't threaded back onto the carteidge tube" said the guy who sorted the fork seal. So she's up on stilts with the front end off, and I don't have the want to touch her again. Have torque specs and tools should someone wish to put the forks back on for transport purposes.
Needs cosmetic TLC.
Last known to be running well enough, but need to charge the battery and bring her to life. Likely less than 34k on the clock, but I haven't looked in a while.
Race-tech internals in front forks.
Ohlins rear suspension.
Gillies chain adjusters.
Clip-ons... including hoses and other fuckery shit to fit them.
Front and rear paddock stands.
Comes with everything I have related to the bike. Helmets too should you wish.
PM any questions.
Cheers
Gordon

are these physically a big bike? would a 190 cm rider be too tall to fit reasonably comfy...are the clip ons you mention more or less "racy" than the originals and or do you have the originals too?
I have admired these from afar

I'm 178 and have never had any real problem with it and would imagine 190 to be an almost perfect fit (there's enough seat to move around on). Getting off the Prila and sitting on one of the new litre bikes makes me feel like I'm back on my old zxr400. She's a tall bike and I have had the great fortune of watching shorter riders requiring a pavement to climb aboard ... concern coming as to how they're going to get off at the other end once they'd roared off.
I got the clip-ons after riding a loaner (not Aprilia) and it felt easier to flick it about, so was more an experiment than anything else. I would say a "failed" experiment. The slip-ons came from the states and they need a shim to fit. The tom fuckery associated with putting them on, putting on the new hoses, re-routing the throttle cable, re-positioning the reservoirs so as not to destroy the fairing and resultant difference in riding position didn't do what I wanted... but they're there for anyone else to try. Needless to say the originals went back on after almost a year of trying to get on with them.

Everything anybody wants in this life is because they think they will feel better when they have it, and because a feeling is something you can achieve NOW, time becomes irrelevant.:shifty:

Im sure it will be ridden to the edges of its design envelope by that chap.
Lucky I linked him to your thread & convinced him it was a good idea, otherwise he would never have found it.
He is extremely satisfied with the purchase.

He did mention that he was quickish lol. And yeah, that does actually put a huge smile on my face as the Prila really did get me out of all sorts of trouble so was vastly more capable than I.
Muchos thank you's. Can I send you beer tokens? Or do you have a local sheep that delivers?
T'was a good deal that suited both our needs :niceone:

No probs, the big man is happy, I am happy & you are happy. Life goes on slightly better for all parties.
My benefit is that it's a great off season training bike for a hurt rider.
