If I put my bike on the axel stand would the belt sander do the chicken strips. Im worried it might stall the bike in first at idle speed and I don't want my friends to help with the throttle and see what I am doing.

I used to have titanium toe sliders when racing for a while but they got replaced with shaped flat bar steel for financial reasons.
Manfeild was hard on rt hand boots but my lefty never touched down in the infield.
Hampton Downs was hard on rt hand pucks because the knee would be up into the fzr fairing and still on the ground at the same time. The down side of a slightly older fatter, heavier and lower bike on good quality suspension.

The obsession with learning how to "get the knee down" is amusing. A year or so back I recall meeting a young chap in Welly in the industrial area where I'd go to practice braking and low speed stuff. He's trying to get his wheelie technique right :laugh: and this when it's obvious it's a damn struggle to him just to actually ride the bike at low speed :rolleyes:

Getting off the side of the bike does NOT gaurantee you are cornering faster ... it's certainly got a pose/wank factor ...

Try those who have a clue and know that unless you truly know what you are doing it's more likely to end in tears than smiles. the truth is that most knee down cowboys come unstuck on the road and often end up under something.

On a race circuit yes.
On the road, once or twice, learned very quickly it was not a good idea, too many variables, not to mention what might already be on your side and here you are swung way out the other way with No Chance of getting out of the way.:woohoo:

Personally I think hanging off the bike to try and achieve touchdown at lower speeds leaves a bike upright and uneven road surfaces combined with a very off centre load can turn poo quick.
Track surface tends to be smoother and suspension on most track bikes well sorted plus tyres are normally running good temperatures and sports orientated. Oil spills are normally powdered and riders learn the track and the grip as they go.

Having done a few years on the track in the past I found myself riding safer on the road. Might be the effect of sliding along no longer attached to a bike a couple of times.
I am also no saint. I did my share of dumb things and took risks when I was younger so I am proof a percentage survive without crashing but a fair few of my mates crashed.

If you really want to get a bike over and push the limits the best thing is a track bike. Some cost less than one road crash repair. Lots of F3 and pre89 bikes out there also so you can do some races as well if you choose to.

Thought touching down in T6 and 1 at HD was the dogs gonads before crashing out in the next session lol (note to self don't wind on the throttle 5% mid corner on warm(ish) tyres). Scraping knees is the last thing I'd be doing on the Coro loop and such like. For a start, if something goes wrong there's no run off and then there's always the furniture.

You misunderstand... First, hopefully you're doing it on the track because doing on the road is only asking for the bike/helmet/you to follow.

2nd, it's unlikely you did do it at the track, otherwise you wouldn't be calling it porn as you'd have your knee down every corner and know it's not much to write home about :sleep:

And yes, it's to gauge the angle of lean/how much you have left. Your technique is expensive on sliders, but I guess soon you'll buy new ones that you can grind down? :weird:

Don't be such a grumpy old Gremlin. I remember going to car parks with Tristan, Texmo and Dan (Rayzor?) on weekends on our little ZXR250's and doing the same shit for hours on end. That said, don't think that I ever got a knee down on the road legitimately! And yeah, getting it down on the track is nothing special either.
