Cheerful and cheap,
Just to get me to work and back, Mitsi 380LX. Seems very quiet compared to my last BA Falcon, no rattles at all. Bought it 7 weeks ago.
Don't see many of them on the road these days, done 95k's only and an ex Doctors car, 8k thank you
Mitsubishi seem to have the lost the plot these days , their latest range is pretty boring.
There's some bargains out there to be had

The 380 was never a dog, quite the opposite, it 's big problem was it was developed for a market that was on the cusp of retracting from big 6 cylinder cars.
Bad timing. That's why you won't see too many on the roads these days. Lack of buyers to start with.
Hence why Holden and Ford ( and Toyota ) are in the process of shutting down major plants in Australia.

Nothing wrong with the 380, it was just a development of the Diamante, it was called the Galant in other markets. They really suck fuel, not what I'd want to commute in.

The 380 was a development of the US Galant, not the Diamante. The Diamante was trashed. Mitsubishi Australia took the template and designed the Galant to be stronger in body rigidity and a few exterior upgrades to make it a bit better looking along with some suspension upgrades and put it on the Australian market. They then named it the '380'
Still stuck with trusty SOHC motor due to lack of funds in developing a DOHC version. Fuel consumption back then was always better than the Falcon or Holden equivalent. My 380's always surprised me on how frugal it is on gas compared to my old Falcon for sure

Put a Diamante badge on it and people would see the relationship. Mitsi's top of the line V6, the progression is there from 1990. Had to get rid of my Diamante because of how much juice it sucked - we drove it around town, and used the Lada for trips. But yes, it didn't use as much as the Falcon we had previously.

Its a mitsubishi, the stupid plastic bits will start falling off, and it will start smoking and drinking oil like a 2 stroke.
Had them at work, the worst pieces of crap we've ever bought, except for the subaru's of course.

I had a '98 mitsi V3000... That thing sucked gas so fast if it was being thrashed. If you watched the fuel gauge as you accelerated, you could see the needle move. It felt fast for me though, this was my 3rd car after a corolla and a Daewoo. I was happy with the sacrifice of fuel economy for a car that goes forwards when you press the accelerator.
