Howdy team,
I'm interested to see if there are any other MT07 riders around the traps?
I bought mine in September 2014, the day they were released in NZ and have never looked back.
Infuse the week i bought it i did 1000km, from Dunedin to Wellington (the long way)
I have since done around 4,500km from Wellington up to Naper, Taupo, Rotorua, Tauranga and back to Wellington, and a bunch of smaller trips.
Fantastic bikes!

Had my MT07 just over a year now.
Just shy of 20,000km on it now.
In the process of setting it up for a south island tour end of January.

Got to buy some bags for it, as I have been advised against carrying everything in a backpack.
Trying to find a phone mount and also if I have the spare funds I might look at importing a alarm.
New tyres are sorted and service coming up.

Ahh yes, if you're doing a big trip then some panniers would help a lot. Something like what in my first post in this thread.
I've been on the lookout for some site mounted hard enduro style boxes.
If you find a good phone holder let me know. Would be handy.
Also if you're looking for an alarm it might pay to contact AVS Car security. They're pretty good, and based in Nz so no need to import.

Managed to get a mount from someone I know.
I came across 2 that were water proof:
SW Motech Navi bag and the mount
RAM Mounts also do a waterproof case.
Some of the listed phone cases might be too smaller for some of the bigger phones so the the Navigation cases might be needed.
Alarms I was looking at getting a Scorpio alarm but have emailed AVS.

Don't get too excited about cell phone coverage down there, most of the West Coast doesn't have any.

Ha! You make it sound like the South Island is stuck in the dark ages.

Not really, the West coast is a mainly narrow strip of land between mountains and the sea, they'd need a cell phone tower every few kilometres.
Very expensive for such a sparsely populated area so it'll probably never happen.
There are some magic roads down there.

Just going to use my phone for a gps. Going to save the maps of areas I need. Harvey Norman have a bar mount mountain bike mount for phones as well which is similar to the mount I have.
Has anyone had experience with bags that sit on the pillion seat?
Morning ferry in the 23rd Jan so will be passing through early, coming back midday on the 9th.

Great mid range bike, I once owned an FZ8 which was a lot of fun.

The bag is a 50 liter bag that sits on the rear seat. Im just worried that if I do get it the sides of the bag are going to hang too far over the sides of the back seat being a bag that big and the MT07 having a narrow tail.

Oh right. Honestly I think your best bet is twin bags like mine. They they expand to around 25L each, but are nice and compact.
