2ts are the past, they are done, ain't going to get more involved...
In MX anyway, cross county/enduro is a different story

Is there anything to stop anyone running a 300cc 2 stroke in the MX3 class? Isn't MX3 a open class effectively?

nothing stopping them at all, just the fact that a 450 would be faster, and easier to ride for 30 min plus 2 laps, esp at Ernee, which is hardpack, with big hills,

From a spectator perspective the 300 would be nicer to listen to than the raspy too loud 450's, with the right rider on board it'd be faster too. The 450's are too fat, everyone knows that.

Only if it is up to 250 and two stroke NZ changed a few bits a couple of years ago but at world level it is 125 2t Vs 250 4T and 250 2t Vs 450 4T. They had to make Stewart stop racing the KX250 though.

none of the current professional riders would be faster on a 300 2t at Ernee, as most of them have not raced 2 strokes in 20 years,

on a sand track it would probably be closer as the powerband and light weight would help, the last rider to podium a race on a 2 stroke was in the early 2000's,

and the factory bikes will be on the weight limit anyway, so the weight is not an issue really,

BT won the last round of the Aussie MX didn't he? I knew the guy couldn't stay away from racing for long. I was genuinely gutted when he announced he wouldn't be racing when he did.

Personally I love the sound of the big four strokes. I haven't been to many events but been to a few motard meets and the sound was incredible.

Yeah like scott said if the two strokes were faster they'd be riding them.

what a ride to go out on, the man has skills, and can step up on the big occasions,

interesting fact, in NZ, in all training Cody would put between 15-30 seconds on BT in a 30 min moto practicing for the last 3 months here in NZ, yet even in Aussie he cant get near BT on race day,

He's an unbelievable rider to watch. That's a fascinating stat vs Cody.

I still remember 2011 Southwick & one corner by the start where he soaked a huge bump mid corner that was throwing everyone else, just awesome.

It's pretty damn cool he went out proving he was a one of the greats.
