Honda VT250f oil pump

hey i've heard the fuel pump on the honda vt250f's have a tendency to crap out and end up killing the engine, just wondering if anyone has any idea how i could fix this before it becomes a problem, thanks in advance!

The attached file came from a very helpful chap over in the Hawkes Bay.
I haven't tried the modification yet myself, but I've been meaning to.
