From memory, there was a panic a few years back. A requirement was introduced for brake lines to meet some standard nobody had heard of so the testers wanted to see a standard. Didn't matter what standard so long as there was a standard. Of course most manufacturers of brake lines don't put a standard on them.
All in all it was just sheer stupidity. Eventually, however, there was clarification. All of the confusion had been caused in an effort to ensure nobody was using home made brake lines using screw in fittings apparently. They could have just said that but no...
Hopefully the idiocy has receded and things are back to normal now and any of the big name brands should be OK. Hel made lines available with the standard written on a sleeve in case you are the nervous sort.
