View Full Version : Two hour, 22 November 2015

The two hour is on not that long from now.
If you have potential partners that don't race buckets the October meet on 10/11 would be a good chance to get them on a bike and familiar with the track.

absolutely
Day licence covers the weekend if you are competing in the mixed doubles or sidecar endurance.
Henk
12th September 2015, 22:13
A rough timetable that may change since I made it up from whole cloth
Sidecar endurance and mixed doubles may be called off through lack of interest depending on entries.
Saturday
Gates open 9:00
Briefing 10:00
Practice 10:15
Mixed doubles qualifying 14:15
Mixed doubles practice le mans start14:30
Sidecars 10 laps 14:45
Mixed doubles race (15 laps each) 15:00
Sidecar endurance race 20 laps 15:30
More practice if time permits
Sunday
Gates open 8:00
Sign on and scrutineering 8:30
Briefing 9:15
Practice A and B split into 10 minute sessions 9:30
Superpole 11:30
B grade le mans practice start 12:30
Two hour le mans practice start 13:00
B grade 40 lap endurance race 13:30
Two hour 14:00
Prize giving 16:30
B grade 40 lapper can be either iron folk or teams of two. You either enter the B grade endurance or the two hour, not both.
Last year we took entries for the two hour on Saturday with no charge for the Saturday practice if you take this option, I imagine we will do the same this year pending availability of sign on folk.

re practice on the 10th, will there be the opportunity for newbies to have a ride around the track anti clockwise as per the 2hr race direction?

can't see why not, Warick is running practice this month but I'll be turning up at some stage and want to do some two hour direction laps.

Should be an email coming out in the next day or so to those on the Auckland bucket mailing list with a revised timetable.
Main changes are the probable lack of the mixed doubles due to lack of interest and a 9am gate time on Sunday since we can't get on track all that early and the fact that I'm not that good at getting up on Suday mornings.
The email will probably get posted here as well.

The email went out today, for those that didn't receive it I've pasted it below. Ignore the schedule I posted earlier, go with the one on the AMCC website in the links below
Hi Bucket Racers.
The annual bucket 2-Hour is exactly a month away. So get your teams organised and make sure your bikes are well-prepared. A team consists of two riders and a flag marshal. If you can't bring along someone to help with the flag marshalling, your team may not be able to race! To help encourage teams to bring along a flag marshal, we will be charging all teams a $10 "flag marshalling fee" this year. At the end of the day, this money will be distributed among the people who actually help with the flag marshalling.
And don't forget that rule 6.17 in chapter 6 (Conduct of Competitions) of the MNZ Manual of Motorcycle Sport requires that every team have a fire extinguisher in plain view in their pit area. The exact rule says this:
Fire Extinguisher: The provision of a suitable fire extinguisher is required in each riders pit. A one, 1 kg (minimum weight) sealed and operational fire extinguisher must be visibly present in each riders pit area.
On the Saturday (Nov 21), as well as plenty of practice, we hope to have mixed doubles races and a sidecar endurance race if there is enough interest. The schedule and details of Saturday practice can be found in the AMCC bucket events calendar here: http://amcc-dev.org.nz/index.php/menu-bucketracing/events-calendar/icalrepeat.detail/2015/11/21/50/-/bucket-practice.html
On the Sunday (Nov 22) we will have more practice and qualifying via Superpole, followed by the 40-lap endurance race and the 2-hour race, prize giving and the mandatory sausage sizzle! The schedule and details of the Sunday race day can be found in the AMCC bucket events calendar here: http://amcc-dev.org.nz/index.php/menu-bucketracing/events-calendar/icalrepeat.detail/2015/11/22/61/-/bucket-racing-2-hr.html

Next weekend. Remember that we need flag marshals and that we will be running the mixed doubles and sidecars on Saturday if there are enough entries.
Also the 40 lapper on Sunday will give you a taste of what to expect if you feel you aren't ready for the two hour just yet and it can be run as a team or two or ironman, unlike the two hour which is teams only.

Getting closer, this weekend now.
Port on the corner has been suggested but that's a bit heavy with no camping at the track.
I would hover suggest port on the corner lite, beer on the corner, on Saturday after the official program is over, bring something you like or something interesting to share if you feel so inclined.

With the out of towers coming and a couple of the teams I know about from Auckland, it looks like it's going to be quite a strong field.

You can blame the terrorists about the Sidecar, was going to fly it up, but since the rebuild, they classify it as a weapon.

Sounds like it was one hell of a 2 hour event, looking forward to the breakdown of the results.

What an intense 2 hour! That's easily the most competitive 2 hour I've been too. Unfortunately there was an incredible amount of DNFs (7) from the 17 starters.
That's endurance racing though and thankfully that meant that Rod and I actually had a chance! We were riding his TZ5cc super bucket which is the most fun I've ever had on a kart track.
We qualified 6th and with a blinder of a start got into 3rd place into the first corner. A group of about 6 very fast riders battled for 3rd for a number of laps before slowly being stretched out. Despite being taken out by Will in a bold but mostly above bar pass, Rod and I rejoined and fought as hard as we can to end up in 3rd place. Thankfully Will took himself out on the sweeper when he rejoined, because he was flying!
I'm super hyped, really really sore and left wondering how it all could have panned out without the crash. Thanks to all the awesome crew who ran the event and the riders who made the clearly massive effort to come up to race in one of the best events of the year! A huge congrats to the GPR boys for the win, it was well deserved. I'll post up some photos later in the week as I'm away for work.

Once again the 4T boys get to give us 2T guys the learn.
317431 317430
Fish and Andrew get to take :second: second place. They each did it the hard man way by riding at race pace each for a whole hour non stop. The difference between 1st and 2nd place was just 10 seconds.
317433 317432
The only 2T to finish took :third: third place. This was an amazing result after being knocked of in the horseshoe and having to push the bike back to the pits for repairs and re inspection before they could re join the race.

Well done you guys after talking to Fishy I wish I had made an effort to go up. I always thought the track was not so nice. Pleased for Regan and Nick also for Fishy who did well for a standard FXR with carb, pipe and 2mm oversize piston. Will become a problem if he works it like the rest of us have!

Dear Mr Adlam, please stay home, there were only three Aucklanders in the top four teams as it was, we don't need any more fast imports 😊
