Big ups to both companies. Mainfreight is the agent here for kiwi shipping, goods from USA to NZ and visa versa. The price to ship a bike here in a crate was exellent I thought ( Obviously different from where collected and shipped from over there) and I chose the bike to be off loaded in Wellington. I am having mainfreight truck it up to new plymouth from there, and the cost is only $139-50+ DAM, cheaper than a packet of chips nearly.

On another matter (not bikes) I approached Mainfreight in Oamaru today - could not have been more helpful - same for Toll too actually - I was impressed!

It's nice to get really good service! :first:

Yes, mainfreight are helpful and their prices are often very good too...

BUT they are let down by their yard staff in my experience. I've had a fork put through the side of two motors in separate incidents.
One was actually packed in a substantial crate too. Both had been hand loaded onto pallets then the forklift driver misjudged the pickup....

Bad luck there, stuff happens and it has to happen to somebodies consignment.... I've done various whoopsies over the years with freight loading, despite best intentions you've got a human using a tool so stuff will happen.
Just look at airline pilots, they should know their shit too but they make mistakes also, so much that they have their own fleet of fricken fire engines at every airport lol.....
