I'm bored and relaxed at the same time, so I thought I'd throw on a CD I haven't listened to for ages.

It's a guy named Ed Alleyne-Johnson, very soothing and different style of music to what I traditionaly listen to.

So, why don't you give the google website a bit of a rev up and see particularly what Mr Alleyne-Johnson is famous (or not so) for. It's quite amazing, he's the John Britten of his field.

Rep points for first answer that relates to what I'm talking about.

Being truthfull now, did you know it or look it up? Fan-fucken-tastic piece of musical engineering. Everyone who tried, eventually gave up saying, "Nope. You can not build an elctric violin."

Amazing sound.

Saw him live, supporting right-on hippie-punk group New Model Army. Must be 10 years ago now. He played violin on several of their records, as well.

Several of the band members had been in a band by the name of the yardbirds, when talking bout names for the new band, one sujested "the new yardbirds" another replied "that would go down like a lead balloon" and so it was developed from there.

You will have your rep points in the next day or so, depending on when it will letme

"Several" is a bit off track. It was just Jimmy Page who was in the Yardbirds, and he was trying to continue with a new "Yardbirds" band for contractual reasons.

Speaking of odd electric instruments, the Ozzie Jazz legend James Morrison is playing in Auckland very soon :spudguita (unless he's already been  ) and in the act he usually plays an electric trumpet. It looks like the old Kazoos you used to use at school, with a knob on the end thats controls the pitch, and the sound from it is wild as.

He's well worth a look, very high energy shows.

MSTRS was busy yesterday and is out on the bike in the glorious HB sunshine today but back to the music thing.... we were watching a DVD of Bella Fleck and the Flecktones last night (yeah, gay name ..right) but fantastic bass player, a little black dude. He plays an incredible version of Amazing Grace as a solo-you would swear there is 4 basses. They also have a dude who plays electric banjo and another guy who plays percussion with something remarkably resembling a suitcase with buttons!! Definitely not mainstream at all

Rep to whoever knows where the band "Megadeth" got their name from.

Isn't it something like this?

After Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica, on the bus ride home to San Fran. He was scribbling lyrics on the back of a pamphlet, after he got bored doin that he flipped it over and it was a summary of the worlds population in Megadeaths (a million people killed by a nuclear blast) and that was what he named the song he wrote on the back of the pamphlet, that didn't fit so the song title changed to "set the world afire" and Megadeth (minus the A) was a fitting name for a speed metal band.

You could of just said "A million people killed in nuclear blast" or something, but jolly good show, what what.
