Year 2004 Jap import, 30k< on the clock, aesthetically rough (corrosion on the motor) but brakes, tyres and lights, seat are sound.

Dead rego, plate still on it.

I've never revinned anything. Does esteemed brain trust of the KB collective think it's worth the hassle with the idea of making money on it (figuring I could get a grand for it all legal?) or nah?

It's purely to try and make a little bit off so there has to be a bit of profit.

Going on the assumption it's rego was not kept up to date for reasons pertaining to it's (non) WOF standard ... you might be best to find out what (and how much $$) to get past the VIN. Remember ... the VIN is more strict than the WOF. Plus ... the cost of actually getting the VIN ...

Oh yeah! Forgot that option EJ.

So the alloy corrosion is actually just a stunningly gritty patina upon further reflection, and it just increased the price by 3 bottles of beard oil.

Yuew, do the motorcycle collective a favour and deep six that piece of shit lest another learner is put off motorcycles for good.

WR next to it looks cool though.

Sorry, spent too long teaching people to ride in the late 80s when these things were new and how much they hindered control.

But it's a classic!

WR is tits with perfectly proportioned nipples. Great bike.

Only time I've been on a GN was when I did my license handling thingo. It was like piloting a 1910 steam powered cargo ship that was running low on coal.
But this one will be different. I'll even throw in a free bag of coal :niceone:

Yeah, I must be getting crotchety. I remember a young lass having troubles doing the slalom course and I popped her on my cbx550. Having about 1 min to get used to it she confidently negotiated the course on a bike twice the size, 4 cylinders, taller and totally alien to her.

But with about 8 degrees less fork angle.

How to ruin any bike. Chopper the forks.

I did an FZR 250 a couple of years back. It was pre 1990 so compliance was more lenient. Personally I wouldn't touch it. It cost me $700 to buy and about $900 to get back on the road. That excludes any cosmetic upgrades. If it was a classic Norton, Triumph, etc., yes but a GN, no. I own a GN250 and really, get something with a higher core value

The cost of revinning will get your costs up to about it's value, would be a lot of work for maybe a couple of hundred profit.

Best option would be to buy it for $200, strip off the extraneous bits and stick some knobblies on it and sell it on as a farm bike, like the suzuki dealers were doing down here with GN125's so shortarsed Filipino's had something to ride around dairy farms.
