Bleeding the clutch?

Hi All,

I'm soon going to be changing the brake and clutch lines on my Hayabusa - I've done brakes before, but never bled a clutch - presuming it will be a similar operation to the brakes - however some google searching suggests using a pump to force the fluid through?

Wondering if anyone has some practical advise on this and can comment on using a pump - if it is the best way, then I will invest in one. If it is just someone being a perfectionist on the internet and it can be done without a pump quite easily then I am all ears.

if all your bleed nipples are at the top of the things you are bleeding you shouldn't need a pressure bleeder.

If your calliper nipples are at the bottom (like retarded aprilia rear callipers), you can take them off and bleed them right way up with something to substitute the brake disc between the pads.

I bleed the master cylinders first, and then once after I have done everything else.

It's the same as the brakes. I have a small bleeder device that allows me to keep the nipple open while I bleed the system. Bikes shops have them think I paid $25. Got a larger one for the cars too.

Apparently a large syringe works well on the nipple to pull the fluid through.

I fail to see the point when one person can reach all the required nipples from the lever on a motorcycle.

Unless your bleeding brakes on an OCC chopper, or a Mercedes Sprinter.

FYI - Clutch bled fine, had a little issues with the brakes went from having a single line to first caliper, then a second line from Caliper 1 to Caliper 2, to just having 2 lines direct to each caliper of the master - there was an air bubble in the system that refused to budge for a while, once sorted - brakes feel noice and toight.
