View Full Version : Suzuki a100 spark plug

hey everyone, I keep on having to buy a new spark plug every month for my Suzuki a100, because it starts to run bad. I have checked if it is fouling them, but it is not. I have tried cleaning it, but that does not work either. What else should I try?

(Have worked out it is something to do with the spark or spark plug)

how did you work that out. All sounds pretty unscientific.

worked it out by buying a spark plug and using it until it started to run shit, then brought another one and it ran fine, then started to run shit again.... haha. Do you think a iridium would work better?

Clearly your ignition system is sub par. First things first.

Find every bullet connector from the coil to the points and the battery and sand it, including the inners with rolled up sand paper.

Then check your points gap at least 12 thou. And look at them running to see they aren't sparking much. Condensor if sparking. It'll be points gap. And then plug cap.

What Dave said, plus, what oil are you running? Better oils are less prone to fouling plugs. The standard plug should last a reasonable time if all else is OK. An Iridium will be an expensive waste of time for you. There may also be a problem with the oil pump or how it is setup.

FYI these can be converted to CDI. It was common in the late 70s - early 80s to fit 12v battery powered CDIs triggered by the points. I made my own and fitted it to my AC50.

I will have a look at the points tonight and give it all a clean up. I'm SAE 30 2 stroke oil like what the manual says. The oil pump is fine, but the lines are leaking and it is getting worse so will have to fix that.
