I own an FXR150 and its leaking fuel at a steady drip every second, or quicker with movement.

It seems to be coming from the screw used to drain the carb. Not out the scew hole but out the drain hole.

I have just one question. Is it necessary to have a drain hole? Can I simply seal that hole to prevent the leak or is there a good reason why its there? I just don't see why you would ever need to drain it like that.

It's leaking because it's overflowing. It's overflowing because the float valve isn't closing. Pull it apart, clean it, replace parts if necessary.

seal it up and the petrol will go in your engine at the same rate, when you go to fire it up it will be a fucking bomb....

Ok forgive my ignorance then,

But if sealing the hole would cause too much fuel to go into the engine from the overflow, then why is there a screw there as if to block the flow through the drain hole?

I don't understand.

he is taking the piss.
Pull it apart, clean, rebuild.
it is easy, just don't over tighten the screws holding it together :innocent:

We can't tell exactly what the hole is for from that description but if it were the drain hole you could loosen the screw and it would increase flow and tightening , it would stop.

Otherwise its an overflow and the float valve is not sealing. Usually a hair or some shite stopping it closing. If this is the case bad thing will happen if you prevent this overflow.

These are a piece of wees to take apart, just do it over a clean surface, not where you can drop shit. You could need to take the valve seat out which will be retained by a screw.
