Like most I was stunned. Bravo Holm.

I am dead keen to see what happens at Rousey vs Holm 2
I suspect Rousey is going to work hard on her Hands/Feet and change her gameplan to take a striking fight to Holm.
Respect to Holm as well - was a brilliant kick and dethroning the Rousey is no mean feat.
Still love Rhonda though.

I still can't work out why the birds who show the boards with the round number on them were getting in to it.

A classic case of underestimating the opposition. R R won't do that again.

Holly looked fitter, faster and keener.
Beat her to the punch by such a margin that she was able to get off planted punches right from the floor.
Speed and power awesome to watch while avoiding any Judo and Rousey's signature arm move. The game plan was perfect.
Prob fired Holms up when she refused to touch gloves at the beginning to.

Think she'd be more likely to double tap you with that vicious jab bro - pow pow.

Yeah, I was a bit taken aback that this is entertainment but crikey, what athletes! Holm was scary. Ripped, fast, hard, smart and no doubt has stamina. That slow mo left hand into the kisser is raw.
UFC and the like are savage, it's brawling, but the top performers are amazing and give some credibility. IMHO. Just sayin.

did you not watch the fight? - Im a big rousey fan, but rousey got knocked the fuck out. not TKO, not stoppage, but she was fucking LIMP mate - because she was silly enough to think that her 4 years of hitting pads was going to be enough to outclass a striker with nearly 20 world titles in striking disciplines. silly silly bitch. I had RR pegged as far smarter than that.
even in round 2 she didnt look for the takedown.
The left hand before the kick put her out on her feet - brain was off but the limbs were on auto pilot and she stood and turned into a concussive brain trauma.
If she comes back, and tries to stand with holm, then not only will she get knocked the fuck out again, but she will deserve to get KO'd again.
Holly has knocked quite a few people unconscious with the same kick - she'll do it again to anyone that stands in front of her.
bring on the rematch

I wasnt suggesting you did, I was replying to this:

.
my point was that that is exactly what rhonda DID try and do, and got fucked up. I was highlighting that she attempted that EXACT gameplan, and the result was a savage knockout loss.
Rhonda cannot stand with the likes of holm. she had a great KO vs Bethe, but she is simply not in the same league as holly when it comes to striking, and if she attempts such a foolhardy approach again, I suspect she will be retired by the result.
She needs to do what she should have done the first time if she wants o avenge her loss, - tip holly on her head, grab a limb, and tear it off.
UFC and the like are savage, it's brawling, but the top performers are amazing and give some credibility. IMHO. Just sayin.

Wow its pretty cool this fight has taken UFC and martial arts more mainstream and hopefully encourage more females to learn to look after themselves.
Rousey also does modelling work and she is cultivating Brand Rousey all the time with her interviews and statements. I'm sure shes smart enough to realise all her good and bad techniques.
Every champ gets beaten sooner or later.
As for the bitchfight comment yeah... I haven't even had a go at full contact match yet and I certainly wouldn't want to face off either of them!!! Holm looked like she had great technique of breaking distance and getting in to strike from the short clips ive seen. Anyone got youtyube link to full fight?

I think from what I saw that Holm's boxing skills and punching power techniques won it for her then she used her kick-boxing etc to finish her off! - Nice work I thought!
Banditbandit
17th November 2015, 14:36
yes. Holm's boxing skills wore down Rousey - for the finishing head shot with the kick ...
Rousey needs to take a fight to the ground to neutralize Holm's reach and boxing and her leg length with kicks ... she failed to do that ...

I think shit got blown out of proportion after her fight vs Beche. I was guilty of it too: consider, a judoka beat a striker by KO. An undefeated striker. And in 34 seconds.
After that I pretty much thought she was immortal, so facing another striker (Holm)? No problem. Well, shit got real quick.
The start of the fight was a bit odd though, I expected Rousey to come in hard and fast at the start, but she was quite hesitant.

ahh, you have been mislead son!
Bethe isnt a 'striker' - she has no background. she came into MMA as a completely blank canvas - no previous training at all. MIXED martial arts is all she's ever done.
The UFC are very good at selective promoting though. they regularly contradict themselves in their fight buildups. they just promote the fuck outta rousey V bethe because of the personal shit

Ahh I see. Still, I was impressed that Rhonda did it by bashing her in the kisser rather than just taking her arm. I hadn't watched a Bethe fight before that.

It was good of Ronda to tell holly how to do it :P
https://youtu.be/1hmfzFh56Vo
If Ronda was more patient she would not have tried to chase her around the ring, especially after traveling to Aus, doing interviews etc then things might have lasted longer but who cares.... I didn't pay to watch as it was on youtube soon after :P
rematch in Ronda's home town might be interesting though... Ronda took some good hits that didn't seam to have much effect.

dunno if i agree with that.
the first straight left that landed early in the first round cracked her right in the chin. immediately after the hands were down, and her timing between her footwork and her hands were way off. by the look of her expression she'd never realy been clocked like that before.
it actually reminded me if the first Barao V Dillishaw fight and that MASSIVE overhand that rattled barao from which he never recovered, and operated on autopilot until he got finished.

I also wonder if the amount of weight Ronda cuts and puts back on has an adverse effect? At the weigh-ins she looks a good 15lbs leaner than on fight day. That's got to take a toll.
I'm not saying this is why she lost. She lost be she was severely outclassed from the get-go.
Anyone watching The Ultimate Fighter at the moment? I'm loving Conor's training approach.
