Hi KBers,

Does anyone know of any small/easy/short DS trails within or near Auckland? I'm commuting on my little dual sport and would like to get more experience off road. Even just little backroad trail linking roads would do, I just need somewhere to begin.

There are quite a few gravel roads North of Auckland in the area bordered by SH16 and SH1.

One I enjoy is to head up SH16 until you see signs to the right for the Mount Auckland Walkway, follow that through to Kaipara flats, TR onto Old Woodcocks Roads. At the end TR onto Woodcocks Road up and over the beautifully twisty sealed section. At bottom of the hill TL to Puhoi back on the gravel. Take some refreshment at the Puhoi Tavern and pick your road home. More seal than gravel but great scenery just N of the urban sprawl that is Auckland.

There are plenty more gravel sections in that area, get out explore and find your own favourites.

Oh crap, the forum didn't notify me that I had replies! Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely check it out now that I've got a break from work
