View Full Version : 99999 and stuck!

My trusty GSX passed 100,000 miles today. I watched the digital odometer hit 99999 and it hasn't moved since. Both the trip meters are stuck as well.
Anyone know what I do to get it moving again? It would be quite nice to reset it to what it actually should read and not to zero but even kicking it in to life at zero would be acceptable.

It's the millennium bug!
Oh you lot laughed about it when seemingly nothing happened, but now who's laughing?
Somewhere in a Russian missile silo. . .

I must admit that my first thought was that I had hit a bug of this sort.
Now that you're reminded me. I'd better put up the solution. It turns out, according to Suzuki, that the design life of an electronic odometer is only 100,000(m or km). I had to take it to an instrument specialist to have it reprogrammed to start again. I'd kept a track of my mileage (via Google maps) so they could reset the number accurately (well, close enough anyway...).

Miles or kms?
Well done either way. What are you treating it to?

Miles or kms?
Miles
I presume it would stop at 100,000 either way.
What are you treating it to?
I'm not sure I understand the question?

On the contrary. The bike's still going strong and the Odo has a new lease of life.

Yep. This is what was done (minus the miles I'd done in the meantime).
