The whole deal is to enjoy yourself at your own pace..there are enough stops to catch up,remember even at a blistering speed,if someone got 2 miles ahead of you, when they stop you will be there in 2 minutes at the speed limit...its not a race, its about having fun and learning along the way. :niceone:

Thanks for the *Magical Mystery Tour* Yoshi, sorry I had to love and leave you at the Glen Murray turnoff along 22 (had 5 bikes follow me who I promptly turned around) but I kinda lost track of the time and had to be back in Ak for 1.30pm. The weather looked horrible at that point down 22 so I hope the tour didn't get too waterlogged!!
Good to see heaps of lurvely bikes out there today with a good mixture of sprotbikes and "farm bikes" (Mr Skids words). Plenty of stops for regrouping and a comfortable pace up the front.
There's plenty more riding coming up over the next months so I'll see you KBer's on the next ride! :niceone:

Thanks Yoshi, a great ride, pity about the rain and wind but still at a good pace, I even saw $160+ once or twice sitting back on the tale, and most of the trip was at $120+, big up's to the newbie’s that came along, I saw some really good riding out there and you kept up really well especially InDeSkyz, damn impressive for only 7 weeks in the saddle.
I dont know who the 636 belongs to but i thought it was awesome, if you want a copy i have it at 2048x1536

Whoa! You guys weren't kidding about breaking my group ride cherry. It was Awesome yoshi.
For the first time, I 'nicked' my toe, had the back skip, had the back lock, and rode 300kms in one day, to add to my arsenal of 500!
I appologise to the people I held up, and one guy on a black bike that I sorta pulled out of passing the truck around mercer.
And to the biker in red -with a red bike that pointed out my peg down before the first corner, man, huuuge ups to you. I will pay more dam attention next time.
Now, if you'd all excuse me, Im gona con some mates to go to the pools so I can soak the pain away.

Thanks for organising that, yoshi. It was a pity about the rain, but I still had a good time. It was good to meet a few new people and catch up.
On the way back with affman and dveus I had my first experience of a bike fishtailing...
Straight piece of road, in the rain, I wasn't doing anything silly, I think maybe there was a slight bump in the road or something, but the back of the bike slid from side to side a couple of times and it felt like I had to apply a fair bit of force to the handlebars to keep straight.
It's a bloody good feeling to make it through an "oh shit" moment like that without crashing!

Well sounds like you guys had fun today.
I was planning to catch up with you by lunchtime on my way back from Hamilton. Myself and a friend left Auckland just before 9am and hit rain about 20km into Hwy22. Rained all the way down to Hamilton and all the way back up Hwy22. Got the VTR1000 (yes, that's 1000) into a two wheel sideways slide at one point and that was a bit of fun but other than that it was a pretty good ride.
By the time we left Hamilton, grabbed some lunch at Taupiri (nice cafe, good coffee, highly recommend it) and headed back to Ngaruawahia to get onto Hwy22, it was after 2pm so I figured you guys would probably be in the pub by then.
Oh well, next time!

Yeah, pretty much nana pace, I was pleased that my nana pace is getting quicker in the wet though! The VTR1000 was a very confidence inspiring ride - felt more comfortable on the 1000 than on the 250 in the wet.
Dunno about a thou. Still have to give the 650 a really good blat. The VTR1000 was nice in the twisties but didn't get a chance to really hammer it because it was so wet. WIll be interesting to compare with the 650.

I had a great day. Even with the "big wet" (what kind of nutter was on the KTM that pased us on the way to Clevedon - twice!!). Couple of roads that I hadn't been on b4, and a few that I last went down 15 or so years back :niceone:
On problem I had was the headwind which stopped the little naked 250 in it's tracks :argh:

The KTM wasn't with us, some sort of supa moto I believe. Your little naked 250 was doing just fine. There were a few times in the windy bits where I was happy to sit behind you, your pace was fine. As for the headwinds . . . do what I do and slipstream a faired bike. The guy on the VTR SP got a shock when I came past him on the straights out of Hunua/Papakura, do the same, get behind a 400 or a 4cyl 250 and keep it wide open.

I might have to take your advice about checking out a screen for the VTR. At least if I have something to tuck in behind, it might make me feel like I'm going faster. Still, the run across to Miranda was damn fun, even if I couldn't crack 140 :devil2: The good news about that is that I didn't have to roll off the fast hand through any of the corners :niceone:

Dude, that was me in the Corona Leathers, after the rain I sort of wished I'd worn my Cordura gear though. It was a great ride, cool to see ya out there on your 150 going hard. FYI - you dont need to pull over or signal to let me pass, with 70-80hp on you I could have passed you at will, just ride and do your thing, I was being the Tail End Charlie, bringing up the rear, hanging back to keep the porsche from tailgating you guys on the smaller bikes.
As for the Buell's rear seat, surely its only a cosmetic thing, nobody except Kate Moss could sit on that thing without A, getting a wedgie from the seat . . . whatever turns you on I guess or B, getting ejected off the back (have you seen how fast he rides).
