Hard to call them Kids anymore and when you get 'well' into your 50s you don't expect much from the offspring. It's the thought that counts and just having them around the house still is awesome and made my Christmas day. One more year and both will have left the coop for good. Enjoy it while you can folks. They grow up fast.

I wasn't expecting anything exciting on the gift front so I popped in to Motomart yesterday and treated myself to a new lid. To be precise, when Dan the salesman asked if I was looking to buy a new helmet I replied, no I don't want to have to buy a new helmet. I WANT to buy the Bell transition helmet visor which a buddy got and loves. So while you're selling me the Bell transition visor, best I buy a helmet to go with it. They really work best as a package deal.

How times march on. I remember way back having to carry a second visor, one dark, one clear. Then along came internal dark visors. Now I fell for those but having a well endowed nose I noticed the poor thing still gets sunburned along with your cheeks.

Rode home with it and it's probably the quietest lid I've ever worn for wind noise. Visor sure does go dark real quick in light. Not sure what shape skull they modelled the internal shell on but Neanderthal caveman comes to mind. Bloody tight around the upper half of my skull. I went a size up compared to most other lids I've owned. It better 'break in' as they say.

As a token of my appreciation for her commitment to zoom around NZ on 2 wheels with me, I have (without her knowledge )bought a new to me BMW R1150R for her.....

Not when it is a puddle jumping hatchback. I've never known a car to pitch, yaw, roll and pogo hop through the corners so much. I did a 1k day ride on the bike back in Nov. I was more drained after this trip. Once upon a time I loved long trips. Getting older now.

She has multiple fractures incl pelvis and both her girls had minor injuries. The guy, a frenchman, bounced of her Hyundai and hit her husband as well who was driving the vehicle behind. They suspect that froggy, who died, may have dozed off at the wheel as he drifted across into my friends. Froggys wife is also critically injured.

Got an ABBA superbike stand from my wife after some not so subtle hints. Came close to dropping the GSX-S trying to use the paddock stand which I bought for the Street Triple as the geometry is all wrong. The ABBA is fantastic - no effort required and completely stable. Have just ordered an attachment which lifts both wheels off the ground together.

Great service from the NZ distributor in Nelson too.

Pretty good thanks - once I replace the OEM D214's :niceone: I've still got to set the suspension up properly which is part of the reason for the ABBA stand. The grunt is impressive but to be honest, the Street Triple took a heck of a lot of beating for the type of riding I do. If Triumph hadn't complicated the issue by strong hints of a Triple 800, I'd be the owner of a 675 RX by now instead of the Suzuki. Don't get me wrong, the Suzuki is a really nice bike - it's more a case of the Triple doing most things exceedingly well.

Thats pretty bloody cool indeed, havent seen one before, can i ask how much and the same for attachment your buying.

From memory, about $230 for the main stand and fittings, and another $125 for the front wheel lift attachment, plus postage. Fully interchangeable between bikes, all you need is the bike-specific fitting to go either over or inside the swing arm. Money well spent for peace of mind. Google ABBA stands NZ. There are also some good vids on YouTube.
