If only someone had offered some counselling.

Reach out people, before its too late.

Sounds like it must have been an actual backfire then, as you wouldn't think an afterfire (what you generally see refereed to as a backfire) would cause a fire. Mind you, if there was a bird's nest in the Harley Fergusson's exhaust flapper that could do it...

Not all Harley's have low self esteem

In our rural area, there are two or three shed fires a summer caused by birds nesting in tractors.....

Provides an interesting question though doesn't it? (Well for those who have more than one bike). You have time to save one bike ... which one do you save?

Must be a Harley thing....

I got a call from a mate with a Harley once asking if I could call over for a look see as his steed was not starting.

Walked into his shed to the sound of him cranking it over hard out throttle twisted wide and the sight and smell of petrol running out the exhaust kids running around everywhere and his lady standing there smoking a farking ciggie holding a baby!!!.

He didn't like the way I spoke to him that day so he ended our friendship the cheeky bastard.:spanking: lol.

Three bikes chained to the floor (Oxford chains & locks) keys all look the same. Each bike has an Oxford disc alarm lock, keys all look the same, each bikes steering is locked. I'll be able to save nothing. And I can thank the lovely people that broke into my garage, and stole my WR a year ago as to why I'm paranoid

I have a fire extinguisher in the car and one in the garage. Not that that would be much use I suspect.

10B in the car, 60B in the garage, with hammer and sidecutters to get the C (electrical) rating compliance

I reckon the 10 would be enough to slow a fire down so it might be wheeled away from other things, and the 60 would be capable of putting it out. Anything less than a 20B is likely just false security for a shed though.

Poor thing, must have been out of its mind from sitting their for so long. Got a little too excited at actually being taken outside to the cafe for once.

I have some sympathy for the Harley dude what with him being a Naki homeboy and all. Things have been a bit depressed out on the rural rump since all the dairy factories closed. There are no jobs for the kids, they either stay on the farm or head to town. Each little settlement used to have its own rugby team - no more. On the basis of no evidence whatsoever I tend to assume that many of the former factory houses will be occupied by beneficiaries subsisting in a grey economy.

Notwithstanding tough times in the hinterland one sometimes comes across interesting bikes. Mine was one such. Another was a mint MV Agusta F4 I saw for sale.

Just in case anyone is remotely interested, it being a holiday and some may have spare time? Opunake's most famous son is Peter Snell and there is of course a statue in the town. Graeme Mourie and Grant Fox were two famous rugby sons. They are still trying to live down the fact that Jim Bolger originally came from Opunake.

How could you mention people whose lifestyle doesn’t emulate the lifestyle the present government encourages…

It would do many who live in urban areas and think nothing of eating out at least once a week a world of good to visit a few of the areas of the country that have not enjoyed the so-called economic miracle…

It's not just small country towns that are as you describe, there are invisible areas of our major cities...

Making it simple, if I could support a family in Taranaki would never have left. The lifestyle is awesome, the people are great.

South of the Bombay hills so probably a mystery to anyone much north of the Bombays.

My earlier post referred to a grey economy. On reflection it's possible that significant parts of that economy are in fact green? (Seeing Akzle pop up reminded me of that : )

And it'd be a fair hike from Opunake to the big carrot at Ohakune. A good ride though. Up the Paraparas down SH43.

Correction: a mystery to a vast number but not all...

Or round the coast, through the Whangamomona and then across the plateau via National Park... both are worth enjoying on two-wheels... :2thumbsup
