In case of any confusion I can confirm that the Festival will carry points for the Registers 2016 Championships, however riders can drop points from 1 round this year ie there are 5 rounds in the championship but only 4 rounds are counted in the final tally.

Other rounds are

Hampton Downs Summer Classic 20 March.
Taupo Autumn Classic 16 & 17 April.
Taupo Winter Classic 3 & $ September.
Manfeild Spring Classic 29 & 30 October.

Approximately 190 bikes entered plus the 250 gp demo so going to be a big weekend. Late entries still being accepted for those who haven't yet entered.

5 February is a Track day for the Pukekoke Raceway, and the usual cost is $125 for the day.

a) They have committed to making it bikes only for us so riders will get a serious amount of time on the track for set up etc.
b) The NZCMRR will also get a reduced rate of $100 per rider, but but only if pre booked by 25th January. Otherwise it will be $125 on the day. Pre book with Kevin Grant email kgrant@affari.co.nz

Because of the number of entries 165+ riders 200+ bikes plus the gp bikes. James needs to get entries shut tomorrow night so as to marktime etc sorted. How about putting an entry in and can be refunded as long as you pull out by Friday.

Looks like we'll have to rename you "Special Needs Bob".

It's a completely stock standard bike, yet they want to know who made the forks, the triple clamp, the carbs, brakes, ignition, hubs, rims etc etc.
By the time I'd got halfway I'd run out of fake Italian male names to insert, I mean fuck, it was a long time ago in Italy, I have no idea who worked at the factory, I just hope nobody else knows that Guiseppe, assisted by Antonio probably didn't actually make the forks.:brick:

ktm84mxc
31st January 2016, 09:18
Bob I'd just rattle of names as you did ie Betor . Marazochi Forks , Girling shocks , Cerani hubs , Nordisk rims , Amal/Bing/Deloroto carbs , Regina chain and sprockets , Tommesalli Bars , Magura levers .
Cause with most Italian brands they just fitted what was to hand . It's getting as bad as the Aussi VMX which states you can only fit OEM parts for State & Nat titles ie NO bigger forks , better brakes etc.

Voltaire
31st January 2016, 09:25
You don't change the details you add another bike.
I agree that Technical Section is a bit of waste of time....like how do you enter a Norton with new crankcases, billet crank, head made in Aussie, 6 speed TT gearbox, brembos they were never fitted with and so on....
All you do is put MV for everything.

Maybe so.
But from my pov I was down a couple of hundred dollars for half a day.
Not bad for a day out with the kids.
I got to watch about 30 mins of racing for that.
Still OK, as the time wandering around looking at the machines themselves made up a lot for that.
We went home satisfied on the whole but a little bummed that large portions of our 1/2 day were spent unnecessarily.
At this point I still wanted to go again some time.

But then I tried to offer some constructive criticism.
That is where it went downhill.
Ear plugs / muff was just a suggestion about how more money was to be made. Don't need more money?
Crossing of the track? I never wanted to be able to cross at will, just to be told "the gates will be open at x times".

When I go to Nationals, Paeroa, car racing, other bike events this information is readily available.

We won't be coming this year.
Not because of the event last year, because of the reaction I got ( and continue to get ) for offering an opinion.

Shit, I didn't realise it was only for aucklanders, I snuck in via Lower Hutt and they never asked me at the gate.. Maybe they noticed my car was an automatic and assumed I was a local?
they also had this thing called a covered grandstand there, if you were in there you may just have seen the one two minute drizzle come across on the sunday, between classes, and the shower during the practice session on saturday, but not felt any yourself.

After those Hampton Downs cockups, the Classic Festival isn't on my radar these days....I didn't even know it was on, such is my interest. Still, I've been going off and on since the very first one, so one year it might be on again for me.

I don't see HD as being a cock up. If MNZ will not let you race at Puke, the NZCMRR had very little choice in the matter. The future as I see it will be interesting. Puke long term will go the way of Baypark, urban sprawl will kill it. HD is getting expensive , it will get more so & it does not attract the punters that provide the NZCMRR with much needed revenue. The grapevine says the new owner does not want motorcycles. The Hamilton clubs winter series is heading for Taupo. Who knows what the future holds .

Overall I had a bloody good time & a big thanks to all those who made it happen .:wings:

is this the same grapevine that says HD was supposed to go the other way around but transit nz didn't want cars crashing onto the motoray? what a crock of shit.
'he built the track at cromwell, it's not bike freindly the requirements for bikes are differnt, for example often you need differnt flag points for bikes and cars, you need run off, and it would all have had to have been different and cost differnt too.
His baby is cromwell, he picked up HD so he could have somewhere to run a few double meetings, the rest of the time he wants to let it sit there and run succesfully as a satelitte track.
simple, you grapevine has been pissed on too much i think.

From a personal point of view, I would have thought he would want everybody to use the circuit. The fewer users the the more the costs will go up for the ones that remain, it all becomes a bit self defeating, I am somewhat sceptical of the grapevive
Again from a personal point of view I want HD to succeed. Puke is a dinosaur, pouring money into that track was like patching up Eden Park. Short term gain , long term pain.
Just my opinion

Hah! I didn't mean it like that at all, I rode down from the far north where it was dry and it fucken pissed down on the auckland motorway right through. It would be fair to say that the majority of expected spectators will be aucklanders I would have thought. It was still pissing down in auckland when I went back through later on sat. So you were the commentator? I remember you saying to the crowd to get on their phones and round up some punters?

to be fair the idea and lure of appartments right there was new, a lot of crew were showered, had down their toenails and siting on their balcony before the racing was over, and the crowd dispersed too.
there were bikes locked in garages, rather than in tents so no-one could look after the racing, at puke people had established where they'd camped over the years, and who would be next to them like a stale old motorcamp, they didn't know where to pit.
i got the impression a lot of people expected the new girfriend to be exactly like the old one that had 'dumped' them and just didn't want to make it work.m but that's my opinion.

Tracey's brother Brian was driving and did a top job. There weren't too many places I would have wanted to go harder. Was awesome fun and in the last one a demon out-braking manoeuvre at the back straight chicane put us in front but Hoodies big buck Maney engine managed to drag us over the line by less than a metre...bugger. Felt a bit tatty yesterday as I hadn't swung for a couple of years but would swing for Brian again any time he wants me to and I'm pretty picky on who I trust to do that with.:2thumbsup
