View Full Version : Lunchtime ride suggestions needed!

I work in Central Auckland, just by the Fanshawe St on/off ramps. I get an hour for lunch and quite often go for a quick hoon when the sun is shining, my usual route being up the motryway to Oteha Valley Rd, up East Coast Bays Road to Silverdale, Albany Highway, Coatesville, Riverhead, Westgate, more motryway then back to the orifice.

I'm looking for some alternative routes, preferably with a few twisties, to keep my pecker up over the summer. I know a lot of you guys know the roads like the underside of your dicks so where should I go to play? My boss rides a Daytona 600 and will be tagging along too sometimes so it would be cool if you can give me some ideas (then I can go practise them and wax him!)

If anyone else ever feels the need for a lunchtime cane too then drop me a line and we can have a blat!

PM me and Duckman sometime... we're not too far from you (Newton off/onramp)

The_Dover

Sweet bro, I will do that. I usually head out at about 12.30 for an hour. Hopefully you guys know a few good twisties close by and I can always shoot up and meet you by Newton Rd.

Hmmm....gym or twisties.......no contest really.........

I'm just down in the HP building if I may join one day.
I have my lunch at 11am, but can delay it with no problem.
I don't know where to go for a lunchtime ride either. O_o

What?
I'm in the HP building too... (at Bayleys at the mo).
I might have to bring the bike more often.

The_Dover: You the guy who I see occasionally on Halsey street in the AM/PM on the way to/from work I assume? Noticed a K5 drifting around there a couple of times.

The_Dover

Sounds like we could get a lunchtime hoon group on the go! Beats sitting in the orifice eating soggy sarnies and staring at a PC!!

I'll set something up for Thursday or Friday lunchtime if people are keen?

Yeah, that's me dressed like the last american hero on my baby!

The_Dover

There's a couple of gixxer6's in there as well I think (ones an SRAD), they used to park out front but are now downstairs from what I understand. I think there used to be an arsesex as well but haven't seen it for a while.

So, who is keen for a quickie on Thursday or Friday? Or should I just start a thread in the rides section?

Oh, we only support the applications and hardware, not the user ;) (j/k too!)

How about a ride on Friday if we can all get our lunch times in line? (I'm ok, have Friday off).
Should be a bit less traffic (hoping) since it's the kiddie holidays.

Right, fuck it. Friday lunchtime. 12.30 sharp at Vic Park carpark, next to the cricket clubrooms, leaving 12.35. Late? Tough shit.

On the motryway at Fanshawe St and into the hills!

If no one shows I'm flying solo!

You should do the Riverhead rd if your heading over the Shore, go to Albany then to Riverhead or come the otherway from the Nor Western, bet you turn around and go up and down a few times. If your boss is along you might be able to blag off for more than an hour, head out to Murawai or Piha :yeah: .

I work in Manukau and Clevedon/Kawakawa etc are only 10mins away, I often "Visit Clients" at 2pm on a Friday, my workmates often wonder why I leave the car at home on sunny Fridays and bring the bike to work.

The_Dover
27th September 2005, 22:01
Yeah, I'm starting to think I should arrange a few site inspections on a Friday afternoon and say "Aww, you know what, there's no cars available! I'll just take the bike eh?"

Anyway, Friday it is! Post here if you're up for it and PM me if you have any alternative routes to the one in my opening post!

Yeh, Bayleys IT is outsourced. We're not allowed to park down there :(
How much room for another bike is there? I might see if I can use it when I have the bike.

Would love to ride today, as i'm currently demoing a bike. Cant be too long at lunch though :(

who was it I saw this morning at the fanshawe lights by the vodaphone building.

looked like a 600cc Suzuki GSXR blue and white

The_Dover
28th September 2005, 11:59
If it was smack on 8.30, crossing Fanshawe St from Halsey St and the rider was in blue and white leathers it was me on the K5. Any other time than it was probably the dude from Vodafone on the 600SRAD. We're both blue and white and have sat at the lights heading home together a couple of times!

ditto. I spoke to him once and he said he only just got a key for his building car park. asked me if I was going to cold kiwi. never heard of it at that stage. hahaha

then he went one way and I went the other but I caught him up on the NW and I cut it up down the next lanes (lane splitting)

was great fun.

which part of the vodafone building are you in? im on the second floor looking out over the smokers about 5 windows along from the fanshawe side.
actually this is my view of your office:

The_Dover

Nah, I'm not a Vodafone bitch! I'm an engineer, my office is the other side of Halsey St from Vodafone. Babbage Consultants, and my baby is parked downstairs waiting for a nice wet ride home!

 oh yeah you pm'd me about that.

silly me

yeah looks like a fun ride eh. im undecided as to leaving on time (at 5) or hanging around for traffic to go home when it might be raining again.

The_Dover
28th September 2005, 16:53
I'll take my chances in the traffic at 5, better than riding in the dark with rain and traffic!

varies.

my favourite atm is

out of carpark on viaduct harbour. hang a left onto it. left onto halsey (down the footpathy bit blocked off with barriers if theres room) left onto fanshawe. up hobson all the way then straight onto NW then off at mtalbert. wizz through the suburbs then out by unitec then wigglywigglywop around there and im home. best ride ever was monday when I got green all the way. I didnt stop once. (well except for a compulsory stop sign in the burbs of course)
