giggles.

Ill see if I can come up with some reasons why it has to be fake.

1. no cop in his right mind would run in alone with gun drawn yelling into the dark

2. neither would he have his finger on the trigger with no threat identified

3. nobody shot by a pistol like that would go flying backwards, that guy took an intentional theatrical leap. were he shot hed just gag and sag.

4. response of onlookers obviously scripted... the fading 'surpriiiisssee...' at the end.

my inner auteur twitches to improve upon it.

Was off some police show (cant remember name) that was on tv a while back. Had some great moments, so will probably never be heard of again.

wasnt a professional production so was presumably showed on some funny-videos programme.

and one would imagine that comedy central would investigate to make sure they werent showing someones hilarious yet tragic real-life demise.

on another note, anyone see the video of the guy topping himself in police custody? apparently they didnt frisk him properly... a real hoot that one. Ill attach it for the general amusement.

warning, its quite real and disturbing if you dont like that sort of thing.

sigh.

would all the limp-wristed hand-wringers who failed to read my post before clicking on the attachment kindly go smack themselves in the head with a banana skin and promise to pay more attention in future.

as bart simpson said, "if you don't look now, you'll NEVER get desensitised".

thank you. as you were.

at least he took himself out, and not some innocent bystander, but from someone who's seen it in the 'flesh', it ain't pretty, and it takes a long time for those (real life - not video) images to be dealt with.

i don't think picking teeth, brains and pieces of skull out of a ceiling is on the '100 things i must do before i die' list.

look guys - sorry
--- the thread started as a gentle [but comic, i thought] pt ..... it seems to have strayed into snuff-movie territory.

As another who has been associated with the aftermath of bits of people and other animals spattered over heavy equipment [in my case] i wouldn't have wanted it to have gone there.

Perhaps its not just images containing nudity that should have the 'restricted' flag on when posting? i would have done that on the initial clip if it hadn't been ex comedy show and a sendup.

My inner pedant can be mollified no longer…

It's just Ms Fish's punctuation and capitalisation that is awry and somewhat schizophrenic!

Ms Fish: How did you manage an ellipsis, and a hyphen in an earlier post in this thread? In the quoted text, you even managed an elissive apostrophe with a capitalised pronoun, topped off with a full stop, but WITHOUT A LEADING CAPITAL? Why the infuriating inconsistency?

You seem capable of proper punctuation, given the academic tenor of some of your posts…

It's driving me MAD! ['twas probably intended to, eh?]

(Just call me an honorary quasi-BDOTGNZA operative...)

I'm sure that people have been killed, skinned, gutted and stir fried for less greivous puns than that LiasTZ...

Snuff vids of cats, or people are not appropriate for PUBLIC web forums. Maybe if rotten.com had a forum, they would be OK there...they aren't here. (IMHO, of course. Warnings go some way...but I'm sure a general sense of what is appropriate should prevail.)

Rotten is far too tame imo.
Personally I think someone needs to setup a portal site with the best content from rotten, stileproject, ogrish, and bangedup and write a virus that sets it as everyones default homepage.

Sick! (But you wanted someone to say that, didn't you?)

Only someone in a comparatively wealthy country, with a pretty good human rights record would be in the privileged position of conceiving such a perversion. I think people who witness the events that lead to the images on rotten.com et al probably feel differently about whether such a virus is a good idea…

All the corpses on those sites for your edification are someone's mother, brother, sister or dad. How would you feel if the mangled body one of your loved ones was put up on the web for the entertainment of others?

i dont no if you recall, but a year or 2 ago rotten.com put up photos of a machete murder in South Auckland that someone got from police files or Court evidence.

The family got wind of it and asked rotten.com to withdraw the photos, since they were identifiable, which request was immediately complied with. the story made it to front page of teh NZ Harold I think.

rotten is a statement. not porn or snuff, but a sociopolitical effort to jar people from complacency. agree or disagree, as you stated earlier, we are fortunate that our civilisation grants them the right to say and show such things, regardles of whether we personily wish to hear or view them.

Identifying features are probably the crux of the issue WRT the 'taste' boundary line for content on the site. Most know the nature of the site, and like B-Net radio stations, the position of Rotten.com is probably allowed a little more leeway to deviate from social norms because of this.

I'm sure that plenty of the piccies on the esteemed site are probably medically derived...some perhaps escaping necessary censorship of identifying features. Having studied in a para-medical field, I've seen some foul pictures in my time, so I don't think I'm too sheltered or complacent. The role of rotten.com et al is on the boundaries of what is acceptable, and like pr0n, one is duly warned of the nature of the subject matter before entry. Such matter should not be foisted upon people in public fora, nor linked to without due warning. Informed consent is the key for viewers.

Such redircetion may be fun in your eyes...but would the boot not be on the other foot when YOUR opportunity informed consent is withheld.

Imagine LiasTZ...every new browser window you open takes you to the LABOUR party home page, filled with gratuitous close ups of Aunty Helen...:devil2:

Some would say it would be plain fun redirecting you there...Mwahhawhawhaw...
