Something to do with Port Forwarding on a Router drunk, and Port forwarding port 80, nearly bricking the router and having to factory reset and reconfigure - all Very Drunk.

The business owner, Grant, is a top bloke. Ask for him and explain your reasoning. I am sure he would love to help you. Grant is a friendly top bloke to deal with. But some of the staff are not.

Thats pretty much what happened. I had just started uni and needed a cheap small bike for commuting. I ended up getting a GN125 from Haldane for $800. A week later the electronics are fried so i took it back. They didnt want to know about it. This prick told me i got it secondhand for a cheap price and it was sold as is where is. Gave me a sarcastic smirk asking if anything else he can help with then walked off. As you can imagine I was pretty fucking angry.

I got it fixed somewhere else. It was the rectifier and cost me about $150. That might not seem like a lot of money but being a poor student living on instant noodles that was a fortune. I had got a loan to buy the bike in the first place so having a repair bill really strained my finances at the time. The whole experience left a bitter taste and made me wary of motorcycle dealers in general. I know they are not all thieving bastards but i still remember that prick and his sarcastic attitude. He actually seemed pleased at what happened.

So this same guy is working at Ducati Cyclespot so recommend you keep a wide berth of him and where he works. I got the impression he was the owner of Haldanes and I cant say its a surprise the shop closed down if they treated all their customers the way i was treated.

The service light came on prematurely on my Ducati but it's so long ago I've forgotten how it was fixed. Maybe when it got the next service in Hamilton?
You could book your bike into to the Hamilton Motorcycle Centre, you'd get the bonus of a ride, and they'll usually lend you a bike to explore Hamilton while they work on your bike. I found them good to deal with.

It is one thing to be told there is no warranty or free fix on a bike you just bought. But when/if that bad news comes with an attitude from the dealer....

Id say so. He couldnt wait for me to gtfo out of his shop so he could talk to a real customer. Im sure he can be a real charmer when it suits him. Having a pos gn125 that needs fixing doesnt suit him.

No disrespect taken. But why the hell would anyone buy a bike from a dealer as is where is? I dont think its even legal for a dealer to do that.

When i bought the bike there was no mention of it being sold as is where is. If there was i would have got something cheaper privately. The point of buying from a dealer is that you get some sort of assurance that the fucking thing isnt going to break down a week later or if it does then the dealer would sort it. At least thats what i though was supposed to happen.

But no this bastard seemed quite pleased with himself that he managed to move the bike without having to fix it. The attitude he had makes it no surprise Haldanes closed down. There was no offer to try and help or to look at it to fix it (they had a shop out back). He made it quite clear it was my problem and i should just get the fuck out of his shop and go somewhere else.

I havent had much experience with Cyclespot so im not saying they are a bad business. All i can say is there is a real prick working at their ducati shop and he should be avoided based on my experience. This was a while ago so maybe he had changed who knows. If he or cyclespot arnt happy with my comments then im happy for them to get in touch with me and offer an apology.

HI Its is monster 696. I can give it a try, but how do i reset the service icon on display? i would need some software for it i guess. That is where i am not very confident.

It's italian and electronic, so either one of two options.
#1: A very large hammer, or
#2: Wait for it to fail all by itself.



#2 is inevitable, but #1 is far more satisfying and quicker.

Short answer: don't know, I bought a carburetted, non-ECU bike to avoid this sort of crap.

There'll be a sub-forum for the bike and I'm certain that the guys there can point you in the right direction, based on hands-on experience. Also do a Google search for the workshop manuals for your bike, and check your local library for Haynes. Chances are that the service icon is there for a reason, see what you can find out before you make a decision.
