I have a little power hacksaw, which I rescued from a scrap-metal yard. Cleaned up, painted, re-wired, re-bushed. Power hacksaws have long-since been replaced by metal-cutting bandsaws which are much faster. But they make beautiful straight cuts, and with a sharp blade with proper set and tooth-count, and the right amount of weight on the blade, they are fast enough to do some work while you do something else.

But I don't have a cool old power source like this guy has!

Here's a saw similar to mine:

That's pretty cool, goes to show how times have changed - chop saw/band saw you can pick up for a few hundred notes and fit on your workbench would slice through that like butter now. Also means the guy that operated and maintained that old saw wouldn't have a job now. Is it progress?

I've scrapped more cool things like that than I'd care to admit

It's just a win for consumerism.
