Oh yep had a great day at work.
Oh yep, car starts fine and I drive all the way home.

Dumbfuck left gate key on keyring, had to turn car off. Unlock gate.
Get back in car WTF, dead as anything!!!!!!

Yeah its car, you all are probably like "who cares" But I live on my own where there is no public transport.

Key turns fine, but not a single sound, light to show door is open goes on and what not. I tried to turn headlights on but nothing what so ever except it makes a fizzling sound.

Theres no one who I can get to look at it until tomorrow. They seem to think its just the battery, anyone else got any other ideas? Could it be something serious? Or am I worried over something real stupid?

*is seriously ready to throw a tantrum and cry or something*

I'm fucking well moving to the city *giveZ* up

Are you with the AA? Give them a call if so.

battery obvious cause.

any mates in range who can turn up and have a crack at jumping it?

if that works then stick the battery on a charger or spring for a new 'un.

check all your fuses first, though.

is it a manual?

push it to the top of a hill, hop in, try rolling it down and bump-starting it, then drive it to somewhere that sells batteries.

try not to stall halfway.

My old lady and I discussed joining the AA before she departed for Aussie. Sadly I never went ahead and did it. :weird: think I might after this.

Find the Fuse box. If the car was built post 1990 the fuse box will probably be in the engine bay. Prior to that it may be under the dash on the driver's side somewhere.

Take the lid off and there'll be a label under that tells you which fuse relates to what and there should be spare fuses of the correct amperage. Check the fuses by taking them out one at a time and checking that the fuse hasn't burnt out. If it is OK put it back where it came from. If it's bung, replace it with a spare fuse of the correct amperage.

If that doesn't help, kick the car.

Try giving each battery terminal a shart wack with a suitable intrument. A wahck not a 'clobber the living daylights out of it". And feel each of the battery terminal, see if either is loose or hot. (And has at least one wire connected to it!)

SOUNDS LIKE A FUSE !!

If it was running fine and then wasn't, I would check both terminals before going near a fuse. Just make sure they are connected OK.

$10 says they are not.

You need to find the self-esteem fuse while you're at it and replace that too.

Careful of those spear bateries, they are dangerous. Quite sharp.

you speled spinach just fine.

I was hoping she lived somewhere above sea level and not far from a drop in the road, you silly girl. not implying that she should find a point higher than her curent location and push the car there.

nothing better than spinach wilted in a pan with some butter and served with boiled and herbed baby potatoes and grilled snapper.

Never mistake a lack of information, education, or interest for stupidity, and never, ever, write stuff like that about yourself again.

Terminal is the knob thing on top of the battery that the cables are connected too. Just what ever you do, don't lick your fingers and touch them both.

But I suggest doing as fish says. Find a good hill, preferably above a tall cliff then push the car down the hill from behind. Remember NOT to get back in the car. Then catch a ride to your local bike shop.:2thumbsup

Yes it is Kiti, look at your battery and you will see a red connector and black connector. wiggle both and try again. Are there any lights on the dash?

Won't work if the battery isn't connected unless it has point

jrandom

the terminals are the metal posts sticking out of the top of the battery.

if you get to the point of connecting or disconnecting them, remember that there is electrickery involved, and try not to insert yourself in series with a closed circuit. zzzaaapp. also try not to mix up any plus and minus connections.

YES I know I'm stupid so please don't tell me :(

fuxache girl get over it, HOW many millenia did it take the human race to figure out the physics involved here and you think people will diss you for not being born knowing it?

everyone has to learn things at one point or another.

funny how most of us learn the mechanical stuff very shortly after sitting in tears staring at a broken-down vehicle.

That good - but ASAP get your local garage or GuyOrGalWhoReallyDoesKnowAboutCars to clean and check those terminals, else you'll maybe get stuck again.

sounds like crap on the battery connection to me. Take the connections off the terminal, wash the terminals and connectors with lots of warm water and reconnect. (I had EXACTLY the same thing a while back) Then go to Repco and get some anti corrosion pads and fit them.

actually, without taking them off or anything, plain old boiling water from the kitchen jug is great for cleaning crap and corrosion off battery terminals, pour it liberally over one at a time (dont cause a little mini-hurricane-katrina over the whole thing or you'll create a short between the terminals, though).

do that, then use the crc to loosen up the bolts holding the terminal connectors on, then bang them right down and screw them in tight.
