Lung Infection bollocks, he had Bone Marrow Lymphoma. Plus his daughter Cecily died a year ago from cancer.
He was the only survivor of his platoon at Guadalcanal. Bet he had some stories.
He wrote poetry, liked kids, and had good friends. Not a bad bloke at all.
What?

And gave us some great phrases and names. I think it is sad when a twenty-something-year-old asks me what the hell a "shoe phone" is...
Or they get really flustered if you tell them you 86'd something.

I remember watching the first Get Smart program...just a kid of course,we didn't know anything about it - and it was,like...???? WTF????,took us awhile to cotton on to it was a spoof,it was one of the first of that genre, the Yanks taking the Mickey out of themselves was a big step forward.
I've heard 99 doing voice overs on documentaries, she's got a very good voice - but you keep expecting her to say.....Ooooh,Max!
Thanks for the memories Don......oh,and the other Don...Don Knotts, what a couple of wacko's.

All those phrases we would use as kids "Sorry about that Chief" Great series, but the film -Nude Bomb - sucked like a Hoover.

Yes, I too liked Get Smart.... Some of Mel Brooks better work bought to life by a great comic actor.
As Jim2 said. He seemed to be a pretty decent dude as well. Or at least didn't get cauught up in the stupididy that plagues the industry these days...
RID Don...
oh.. Sorry about that Don.. RIP
