Hey all, just wondering if there are any Suzuki SMX50 or RMX50 owners on here that might like to share tuning and riding experiences?
I have an SMX50 with 70cc athena, yasuni pipe, dellorto 21mm phbg carb, and she goes like stink. Love this bike.

I'm suspicious that I'm one of the few here that will have owned one - I've owned two infact - one SMX50 and one RMX50

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYGf_N-ESsM here's the SMX.

The RMX was something I semi-convinced zeRax to ride the DB1K on, and then bought off him when he realised (IIRC) that it wasn't a sensible idea. Biggest ride I did was Nelson to Kaikoura and back the next day, seem to remember it taking about 4 hours - needed a tank every 100km as WOT all the time. Managed a top indicated speed of 110km/h.

Awesome, was the RMX modded in anyway? I do wonder how many smx/rmx50's there are in the country, I read that Suzuki only brought in one container, but how many bikes is that? 20, 30?

and here is an oddity I have found with this bike.
I have just fitted an electronic tacho, and found that it need to be set to receive 2 sparks per revolution, otherwise it would read double the rpm.
Checked this with a little digital tachometer and confirmed that if the tachos are set to single cylinder 2 stroke settings (1 spark per revolution) then they read double.
So this indicates the the ignition is sparking twice per revolution, which is kinda odd. I have heard about 4 stroke wasted spark ignitions, but not 2 stroke.
Any ideas anyone? It's not an issue for me as my tacho can be set to 4stroke/4cylinder / 2 stroke 2 cylinder and then it reads correctly. I'd just like to know why!!!

They were $5500 new at a time when you could buy an RG150 for $2995 or an FXR150 for $3495 so I can't imagine there were many. No idea if my RMX was modded, it did have "Not for highway use on the muffler" - only had 1700 odd km on the clock when I bought it and sold it to a collector
