Hi all
The results of round 5 of the AMCC bucket racing championship are now up on mylaps. You can see them here: http://www.mylaps.com/en/events/1236685
Simon Cain was out there taking brilliant photos. Thanks again Simon! You can check them out on Chris and Simon's excellent Flickr site: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sonscc/albums/72157664932948085
Congratulations to Nathanael Diprose who got the "double-double" winning both races in F4 and F5. However, there was serious competition from Rod Gibson in F4 and Gary Cunningham in F5. The chasing pack have by no means given up!
Congratulations also to Rick Ford and Henk Zeeven, who managed to break the outright sidecar lap record (in either direction) with a 33.769s lap in race 1. The previous outright lap record was a 33.805s by Max Olsen and Wil Killip, so there wasn't much in it. But 36 thousandths of a second is all it takes. Max and Wil's 33.805s lap still stands as the clockwise lap record.
And finally congratulation to all those riders who are now too fast for B-Grade! You know who you are Dylan, Steven, Joel and Jason!
Dylan Byrne made the jump to A-grade before the points races and had a couple of excellent dices with Kamil and Nigel which caused him to produce his best ever laps of Mt Wellington. Brilliant!
Our commiserations to Steven Lee, Joel Hedges and Jason Haselden who stayed in B-Grade and had their fastest laps disallowed because they were under our cut-off time of 32 seconds. It's a testament to the level of bucket racing these days that, a few years ago, the cut-off was 34 seconds. Anyone who got into the 33s got booted out of B-Grade immediately.
Because the fast laps are excluded from the results, they're not visible on Mylaps. Sorry guys, but that's the way it is. However, since this is the first time this has happened, I'm prepared to share the following information:
- Steven Lee had 7 laps disallowed between 31.424s and 31.811 - a VERY consistent A-grade quality performance.
- Jason Haselden had 6 laps disallowed between 31.380s and 31.958 - a similarly excellent performance.
- Joel Hedges had 3 laps disallowed between 31.395s and 31.895s - an excellent effort until he binned it.
If Steven and Jason and Joel had been in A-Grade, their efforts would have been properly recorded on Mylaps and they would have almost certainly have had an excellent battle with Kamil, Nigel and Dylan (who actually managed a 31.308!). Moving up to A-Grade DEFINITELY makes you a faster rider! So we'll expect to see a larger A-Grade field at the next meeting, won't we guys.
