I Just passed my final stage for my motorbike licence and what a huge relief and satisfaction it is. I was a bit surprised because the whole test was conducted in 50km zones, I was expecting to do mostly open road riding but not to be. Anyway just glad to be free with no more conditions.:2thumbsup

no point in going on the open road, they can assess your riding skills from lower speed capability and interaction with traffic...

Seems a bit overpowered for 50km zones, but whatever floats your boat :msn-wink:

I live in a rural town, haven't even got a single traffic light. My commute to work is mostly 100km zones, 24km return. Plus come the weekends the only 50km zones are the towns I'm passing through. If I lived in the city Id look at something more appropriate if the purpose was to commute. Not quite sure the reason why you mentioned 50km zones for. I don't intend on riding in 50km zones, sort of defeats the purpose.

Haha, I was only just having a laugh at the licensing test you described, and other peoples posts. There's no fucking way anyone with a fully-functional brain would give someone a license to operate a motor vehicle at 100km on New Zealand's open roads without fullly testing someone, but you've indicated otherwise outside of International Drivers license conversions.
Don't fuck it up for your fellow, small town community members;) If word comes out, that shit will be cracked down on. "My dad went down the block with the copper to buy a pie and, came back with a drivers licence".
I'm not any different to you. I also live in the country, and not even in a town, fully rural on a life-style property, the road is barely tar-sealed past my driveway up the road.
My commute is 100km each way, Mostly 100km speed zones. I'm still riding a 300cc. Perfect for the open road, and also the inner city of Auckland. Have been on a full motorcycle licence for a while now, just waiting to pay some more of the (tiny) house mortgage off, and to also convince the wife that having two bikes is cool. I'm halfway there I think... I'm just anal with money:msn-wink:
Have fun test-riding your new bike, make sure whatever bike you end up choosing matches your riding style, and enjoy!

And don't sweat about the test, he knew you couldn't do 100kph on an HMX

Nah I don't think it is sarcasm. It makes sense. I guess its up to the discretion of the assessor weather its on the open road or not. At the end of the day all the competencies were met to ride safely on NZ roads.

I'm just quoting you, so that we can clarify exactly where the test for a full license was not carried out in full.

I'm a bit unsure what you mean by that comment? So you're saying I got my license out of a weetbix pkt. And because I did the instructors going to do their jobs correctly is what you are trying to say ffs. Stay off my thread dude. Starting to piss me off man.

The test went for 30min and obviously all competencies had been met. I don't think it matters weather the test is in high speed areas or not.
There's no legislation that the full licence test has to be in 100km zone. I just assumed so.
This is what I copied from LTSA
Practical tests assess your driving
The practical driving tests are designed to assess your ability to apply your knowledge of road rules and safe driving practices. Test duration 30 min.

I just had another looksy on the NZ transport site and there's no mention of 100km zones in regards to full licence testing. The test did go for the required 30 min including the 10 min to check the bike ect.
Some testing stations are more then 30 min away from 100km zones.
Yeah so there's no comment I made that would as you say fuck it up for anyone else. I wasn't gifted the license I had to jump through all the hoops like everyone else.

When I did my full class 1 there was no 100km/h stuff either. But lots of school kids getting out so I got told off for driving too slow. Most of the 100km/h stuff is now meant to be tested in the restricted test. When they switched things up a couple years ago they made that test much harder and the full test a piece of piss.

Thanks for clearing that up mate, I do remember the instructor telling me after I passed the restricted that the full license is easier and less time. It just pissed me off getting accused of rubbish before.
